As a medicine cat, it was Mistedsong's duty to pretty much always be around, be it to advise his leader or to manage the daily aches and injuries of his Clanmates. With Blizzardpaw finally able to resume her duties, however, he realized it had been moons since he had actually had.. pretty much any time to himself, outside of his solo visit to the Moonstone. Even then, he'd spent that whole trek thinking way too hard about way too many things to actually get any relaxation out of it. His paws quickly found their way out of camp and wandering aimlessly throughout his Clan's territory. Despite his lack of actual planned direction, the tom was relatively sure that he knew the ins and outs of the territory better than any other cat besides maybe Silverstar himself, solely because he spent so much of his time snooping for funny looking leaves in every corner of the underbrush. Thus, Mistedsong was pretty comfortable to just let his paws take him wherever they may.

After a time, the sun painting the leaves in shades of pink, he was met with the softly sparkling sight of the massive cavern that made up the Glittering Stones. It had been quite some time since the medicine cat had actually been here for a consistent amount of time, mostly because the glistening maw in the ground filled him with a sort of perverse sadness. Mistedsong loved being a medicine cat, he had always had a distaste for fighting and a strong connection with StarClan, it simply made sense for him to have the position that he did, not to mention that he would make a pretty crummy warrior what with his disability. In spite of that, his position lent him a particular view of the other cats in his Clan, an almost spectator's eye watching the relationships bloom between cats. Stars, he had a direct hand in helping to deliver the fruits of their love in the form of kits. Witnessing the connections that formed between other cats from the outside and knowing that he was forbidden from ever experiencing that himself made him feel.. a lot of ways, and he'd spent most of his life trying not to figure out exactly what that meant.

When he was young, though, the Glittering Stones used to be one of Mistedsong's favorite parts of their slice of the forest, for the colorful assortment of birds that visited the Twoleg cavern. He figured they came to collect shiny stones to woo their mates.. Oh, how ironic, he thought to himself with a mirthless chuckle. The small grey tom curled up at the base of a tree a few fox-lengths from the edge of the cavern, resting his head on his paws and just listening to the birdsong. It had been far too long since he'd been to take part in the activity that had earned him his name; it gave him far more peace than his own nest did at this point, that's for sure. This had always been his thing, and he didn't have to think about the phantom smell of honey and lavender that made his nose twitch when he was on the verge of finally falling asleep.

Mistedsong had no idea when his olive eyes had slid shut, but when they snapped open again at the crunch of a twig, the sun had disappeared from view and left the world a dim purple. He almost barked out a startled 'who's there?!' but chose to remain silent, on the off-chance that the arriving cat was not friendly, listening intently and silently praying that the cat passed him by entirely.
