bleed just to know you're alive

Bluepaw laid outside the apprentice den, his normally bright sky blue eyes dull. He felt like a failure. Despite his efforts, his training was not going so well. He had been left behind by his remaining living sibling, Violetbriar. He was useless as a warrior for RiverClan. Part of him wished he could just sink into the ground of the island. He didn't feel as though he deserved a space in the apprentice den, or anywhere in the camp.

Disgust finally rose to it's boiling point within him, and the blue-pointed tom cat got to his paws. Technically he shouldn't be leaving the camp alone, but as he glanced around he didn't see anyone that would notice him anyway. He swam away from the camp. At least he had improved at swimming, even if he still hated the way the water tugged at his fur and made him feel unstable somehow.

He didn't know where he was going until he realized his paws had taken him to the gorge. Despite his disdain for himself, he had no wish to join StarClan yet. He didn't want to face his siblings who had crossed over, didn't want to disappoint them.

"Why am I such a burden to everyone? I have always wanted to give my all to my Clan...but my all is pitiful." He whispered, glancing down at the gorge as though the landscape might have some answer for him. His ears pricked as he heard the slightest sound behind him, and he turned to see a shadow...

A red form stood there, it's eyes yellow and hungry. The fox had to be starving if it was seeking food here at the gorge. That or ill. There was no real undergrowth or anything here. It was so open and exposed...Not great for hunting.

Of course, Bluepaw wasn't thinking about that as adrenaline began pumping through his veins. He would have to fight this creature, and he was not at all confident in his abilities. His claws unsheathed, vertigo overtaking him as he realized how close he was to the edge of the gorge. One wrong move...

The fox was on him in a second, it's strong jaws closing around his neck and almost picking him up. A terrified scream escaped the apprentice's throat, and although he could formulate no thoughts at that moment, his only hope was that it would alert a patrol to his presence.

Fox uses Iron Grasp. Bluepaw is caught in it's grasp!

'Predator Dice' :

A pout adorned his caramel features, ears slightly drooping and shoulders gently hunched in a fake display of disappointment. Whitepaw and Nettlesplash had gone out without him once more, he had a moons worth of training to catch up on but he had become so well acquainted with the queens and elders that he honestly couldn't pass up the opportunity to check up on them. At the risk of his training, that was. What a minnow-brained decision in the long run- but really, Crakepaw just couldn't help it, something about knowing and understanding all of his clanmates appealed to some weird part of him. 

Speaking of, he narrowed his eyes as he watched the not-so-familiar form of Bluepaw drift off. The tom had always interested him, sibling to Violetbriar - whose new litter was just truly adorable - and he could empathise with him. Though Crakepaw was yet to reach 12 moons, he knew that he would definitely have an... extended apprenticeship, and he'd been meaning to speak to Bluepaw to see how it felt. As nice as he possible could've. But now curiosity was getting the better of him as the other tom slipped away, and without a moment of hesitation he followed, feeling water embrace him and he fought off a purr. Trailing more than a few tail-lengths behind, following Bluepaw's scent rather than by sight, he felt his breath catch momentarily in his throat as he recognised the way to the gorge and he put on an extra burst of speed. Even the most experienced warrior could have an accident here, let alone a brooding apprentice like himself.

Instead, the reek of fox hit him and his fur instinctively puffed out in a display of aggression. Bounding forward now, he could only watch in horror as Bluepaw was practically dragged off the earth beneath his paws by his neck, and a loud screech pierced Crakepaw's ears. "Hold on Bluepaw, I'm coming!" he yowled above the agony drenched noises escaping the other apprentice, and he leapt into the blind spot of the fox, claws unsheathed. He furiously clawed at the neck and shoulder of the rust-coloured beast in an attempt to make it release the other tom, and let out a loud caterwaul almost begging for help.

Crakepaw used Claws and Teeth, dealing -8 in damage!
