A dark form stalked out of the marshy forest, slipping quietly across the Thunderpath with little hesitation. He was on the hunt for a hare, and what better place to find a hare than WindClan? Halfpaw was only going to cross the border for a little bit, it wasn't a big deal. Besides, the sun was dipping behind the mountains in the distance as evening came. Soon it would be dark, which was his ideal time of day. The darkness hid his pelt better, and he was accustomed to hunting at night. Such was the life of a ShadowClanner.

He could easily smell the border once he had crossed it, his eyes and ears on alert for any sign of movement, prey or otherwise. If he was discovered by a WindClan cat, he was confident he could fight them off. In his mind, he was one of the strongest apprentices in ShadowClan, a fact he prided himself on quite often. Suddenly, a rustle nearby caught his attention. He dropped into a defensive stance, his pupils dilated threateningly. Best to wait and see what it was. If it was prey, he didn't want to startle it away by talking.

Going out alone was a demise met by many cats. Though for some reason Bunnypaw felt safer alone. Like nothing was going to attack her. Like she could sit in tall grass, swishing her tail and thinking to her self. Like the small apprentice was going to be okay.

That thought was on the back of her mind until she smelled marsh. Confused Bunnypaw slowly got up onto her paws and turned her head. She couldn't see it but she was certain it could see her.

Halfpaw got a whiff of wheatgrass and hare. Not explicitly prey, but...a WindClan cat. A wicked smile crossed his maw and he slunk forward, silent, pushing through the brush. Now he could see her, a small molly apprentice almost completely oblivious to his existence. He himself was larger and bulkier than she was, it would be no problem taking her down. The dark-furred tom crouched, then leapt out of hiding with ferocity, claws outstretched. He landed squarely on her back, sinking his sharp claws into her flesh. "Watch your back next time, WindClanner," he hissed into her ear, punctuating it with a snarl. He was still an apprentice, but his apparent lust for battle was quite concerning.

The scent of marsh then attacked her. Bunnypaw shaked trying to get the heavier tom off. She wanted to run back to camp but she knew that would be harder with the apprentice on her back. She tried to bat at the tom praying silently that it would manage to get him off of her back.

The apprentice under him struck at him with her paws, attempting to push him off. She landed a solid smack across his face and he growled, shifting off of her. It wasn't as fun if she just laid there. "Come on, is that all you've got, you mouse-hearted grass-eater? At least give me a challenge." He lashed out at her again with unsheathed claws.

Bunnypaw let out a sigh of relief now that the tom was off of her. She could run now! If she wanted Shadowclan stealing rabbits. She already didn't like this tom so he figured that if she was going to run it would be after the Shadowclan tom ran.

With a hiss Bunnypaw leapt at the tom and bit and scratched his leg along with some of his chest.

Instead of running after being struck, it only seemed to invigorate him. A low chuckle rose out of his throat, mouth curving into a wicked, toothy grin. "There we go! See, you're not as pathetic as I thought you were." Halfpaw leapt out at her again, bowling the smaller cat over and scoring marks down her flank with his claws.

The small tortieshell let out a yelp of pain as the Shadowclan apprentice scratched her. Letting out a small hiss, Bunnypaw bit his leg, hoping to get a yelp out of pain out of him too.

Fangs sunk into his leg and Halfpaw let out a low hiss of pain, the noise turning into an angry snarl. He could not let this pathetic rabbit-brained WindClanner get the best of him. Wrenching free from her grip, he launched himself forward and sunk teeth of his own into the apprentice's shoulder near her neck. He didn't intend to kill, just to teach her a valuable lesson. No one crossed Halfpaw and got away with it.
