Cramming his head full of herbs knowledge was a feat that some how seemed as daft and lifeless as the mindless droning of warrior training. He picked up on it quickly, easily telling the difference between leaves with something as simple as how they felt underneath his pad. Quickly, Yewpaw found himself enamored with the concept of trying the herbs himself to see what impacts they had first paw. It had been a decent idea at first, until he found he quite liked the way poppy seeds dulled the senses. After depleting the clan's stash of poppy seeds, leaving the dried poppy head remains scattered about, the medicine cat apprentice found himself batting a juniper berry back and forth between his paws. Herb gathering was done, there were no major injuries demanding his attention, nor cats lying ill. So, the tabby sat here in his mindless state until another cat finally padded it. He looked up with a dull expression, dashed with a lopsided smile, "Welcome to my den of wonders. How can I help you today?"

Rainpaw came in, blood dripping from multiple scratches on his pelt. Yewpaw's lopsided grin sparked a sort of cockiness within himself. It was nice to see his friend again. "Kind of an embarrassing story here, uh, I stumbled into a thornbush." He'd been so focused on chasing the rabbit. He barely noticed the thornbush up ahead. The rabbit disappeared into a burrow right before the thornbush, and his momentum had sent him skidding into the bush. His long, thick fur hadn't helped much with how hard and deep he was in the bush. "I don't know how to remove thorns. Or patch scratches. So I'm here." He flicked an ear and hobbled over to the closest nest.

"Rainpaw, Rainpaw, Rainpaw... Thorns don't belong in your pads." Yewpaw chastised jokingly as he rose to his paws and wobbled over. With each step forwards, his paw dashed out to guide along the juniper berry he'd been tossing about. It had to be good for something. As he neared the nest, the tom's head nodded upwards, signaling lightly for the warrior apprentice to lift his paw. He stared at the thorn for a few moments, unblinking. It seemed to be lodged in there well; Yewpaw had a hard time telling where thorn ended and the paw began. Twisting his head, the tom tried to find a good angle. After a while, his claws slid out, and one hooked at the edges, tugging ever so slightly. It began to pull away but he needed more weight behind the grip. With the last bit of clear-headedness that he had, the medicine cat apprentice nipped at the thorn and pulled away. It was a rough motion, nothing practiced, but the thorn had been dislodged.

With that, Yewpaw picked up the juniper berry in his maw and crushed it between his teeth. The juice and saliva mixture was dripped onto the wound, mixing with a tiny pinprick of blood. Satisfied, he straightened up as much as he could, "That should keep you going. Try not to step on anything sharp any more, ya know my supplies are limited?" That cocky grin peeled back his maw once more as he ungracefully settled back onto his haunches.
