Hunting the sundown

Thornpaw has finished his mid afternoon grooming session when his mentor ordered him to go on a hunting patrol with another apprentice, with leaf fall here and leaf bare coming, every prey added to the fresh kill pile counted a lot .
Thorn knew just who he wanted at his side, he happily went into the apprentice den and mewled softly “Whitepaw wanna come on a hunting patrol with me?” He asked his favorite Tom .

Whitepaw was grooming his white fur in the apprentice den when thornpaw came and called. The White tom liked thornpaw a lot, maybe even loved, so of course he got right on his paws. "Of course I would!" He mewed and padded up to Thornpaw.

"Where should we go hunting?" He asked nuzzling his friend's neck as a greeting. Whitepaw knew thornpaw felt the same towards him so the two apprentices would always be seen flirting with each other trying to see who was the best one.

Thornpaw mewled his delight and brushed his tail gently against the other’s side . “I was thinking towards the sun, where the flower patch is, there might be some rabbits eating a late dinner” plus that area had a great view of the sunsets and starclan May first warriors always seemed to pop out first there .
“It can a good team building exercise, for when I become leader and you my deputy .. or the other way around I’ll gladly be your deputy white star “ he teased .

Whitepaw rolled his eyes but couldn't stop the laugh from escaping. "I would rather be your queen. And sure that sounds amazing, lets go!" He mewed with a quick lick before racing off as a challenge. As he ran whitepaw looked back and stuck his tongue out to thornpaw.

Thornpaw was a bit stunned at the suggestion, thinking about one day having lots of his own with Whitepaw.. but that was way way ahead in the future right now he just wanted to focus on hunting. He mewled happily and took off after him his bushy tail waving in the wind.

As the white tom arrived at the flower meadow he decided to have some fun. Whitepaw hid before thornpaw saw and when the moment struck he pounced, flowers going everywhere. "watch your surroundings better!" He mewed laughing as a flower landed on thornpaw's nose.

Thornpaw was rushing through the field enjoying the wind rushing through his fur when he was suddenly lept upon and let out a yowl of surprise. “whitepaw!” He laughed and sneezed when when a flower landed on his nose . “You scared the prey right out of me~” he purred and nuzzled the other Tom.

Whitepaw smiled down at thornpaw before getting off. "How can i scare the prey out of you when we havent hunted yet" He mewed with a cheeky smirk while looking around hoping they didnt scare the prey off.

Thornpaw playfully swiped at his ears and nuzzled him. “Oh hush .. come on I think I smell rabbit nearby~” he playfully head butted him and sniffed the air crouching low as he stalked Among the flowers .

Whitepaw watched him stalk the rabbit with a smile on his face. He knew if he didn't stop smiling he would be stuck with it but he also knew no one could stop a love struck cat from smiling. Whitepaw has only gone hunting once so he hoped he wouldn't make a fool of himself.

Thornpaw could feel Whitepaw’s Stare and couldn’t stop himself from wanting to show off, going slow to show off his sleek glossy coat and growing powerful muscles . His ear’s twitched as he heard the noise of a rabbit foraging nearby, he might be close enough to pounce on it .

Whitepaw stopped watching thornpaw when he caught the sight of a bird. The bird didnt notice the two cats so whitepaw crouched low and crept towards the innocent creature. As whitepaw got closer he completely lost sight of thornpaw, too focused on his prey. When whitepaw was close enough to the bird without being seen he waited. While the bird hopped around finding food, whitepaw was waiting for the perfect time to strike.

Whitepaw pounced but the bird noticed him faster than his pounce and flew off. Whitepaw landed on the bird though and bit down on its neck. whitepaw padded back towards thornpaw with the prey in his mouth.

Thornpaw crept silently towards the rabbit his tail parallel to the ground, the creature had its back to him and he licked his elongated fangs in excitement . He bunches up his muscles prepared to spring when the wind shifted and the rabbit shot it’s head up looking around, knowing he had no time to lose Thorn pounced one the rabbit and bit down on the back of its neck with his long fangs, tumbling over the earth and sitting up with a yowl of triumph ignoring the scratch he had received from the rabbits back leg on his shoulder.

Whitepaw padded up to thornpaw after the brown Tom caught his prey. He noticed the wound on his shoulder so licked it before smiling at him. "Great hunting." he said and set his bird down with thornpaw's rabbit.

Thornpaw was very proud of his catch, “think my dad will be impressed by it?” He asked and nuzzled Whitepaw as he Licked his shoulder. He desperately wanted to impress the Tom, “Mmhm I think we have time for one more hunt~” he stretched.

Whitepaw smiled at thornpaw. "Of course, he better be proud of me too, I am his apprentice after all." He mewed before a gust of wind carried the scent of Rabbit to them. He turned his head towards the scent and with one quick motion got into the hunting crouch to stalk it. As whitepaw stalked the rabbit, he thought about showing off to thornpaw.

When whitepaw was a tail length away from the unsuspecting creature he stopped. He waited until the wind died down before pouncing. Without even knowing what was happening, whitepaw landed on the rabbit and ended it with one blow. He padded back to thornpaw with a giant smile on his face, carrying the rabbit.

Thornpaw watched him with interest taking notice how strong and sure of himself he looked, he felt happy and giddy that Whitepaw liked him so much . He let out a happy mewl and raised his tail excitedly “that was an amazing catch Whitepaw!” He ran up to him and nuzzled his side, “you’re an amazing hunter white”.

Whitepaw smiled at thornpaw before nuzzling him back. "Your good also! As good as a warrior!" he mewed licking his forehead. "Its getting late,,how bout you catch one more thing." He said sitting down near their prey pile, wrapping his fluffy tail around his paws.

Thornpaw purred and silently stalked through the heather,  he opened his mouth to taste the air and noticed a larpwing pecking the ground nearby . He instantly got into the hunters crouch and stalked after it. He crept as quietly as he could when the wind shifted and his scent was blown towards the bird, “oh no!” He gave a mighty leap and swiped at the bird taking a few feathers but that was it as he crashed back into the earth in a tangled heap of paws and legs . “.. oof!”

whitepaw watched him try to catch a bird. "Okay,maybe not lIke a warrior!" he mewed laughing. The as he watched thornpaw come back he noticed the sun was going down. "Its so beautiful, might even beat you!" he mewed watching the sunset.

Thornpaw shook himself off, huffing a little he noticed the sunset too and moved closer to Whitepaw, Pressing against him, " It's so beautiful out here..." he sighed happily, There was nothing better then this, being a Warrior and being part of windclan. " I'm glad you came with me today whitepaw" he licked the other's shoulder.
