An unexpected dispute [closed]

Resting on a rock outside of the leader's den, Mapleglow sat, soaking up what little sun shone during leaf-bare. She did love basking in the sun every now and then, especially on a nicer day. In leaf-bare you didn't see good sun like this. Eyes fluttering closed, she started drifting off into thought, her tail flicking every now and then. She thought about all of the things she needed to do that day, about how well her kits were doing, Beetlepaw's training, and Grasssnake, among many other things. She opened her eyes to find the camp still busy, but one cat in particular stuck out to her. "Hey, Alfalfatuft! Hold on, i'll be right over!" Pulling herself from the rock, she started to walk across camp. Alfalfatuft was a cat she rarely spoke to, and she wanted to change that. She wanted to get close to all of her clanmates, after all. When she reached the tom, she greeted him with a smile. "Hello! I just wanted to see how you were doing today!"

Laying on his back with his legs sprawled open and belly facing the rare glimmer of sunlight that shined down during Leafbare, Alfalfatuft, ShadowClan's most lazy cat, basked in the warmth with not a care in the world. That morning he'd been woken up to get his warrior duties done and after lots of complaining and dragging his paws through the marshlands, he'd finally returned and wasn't about to lift a paw for any-cat.

Having been lightly dozing for who knows how long, his ears twitched as he heard a voice call out to him, but even so, the plump tom didn't dare move a muscle. He was far too comfortable in his current position and no-cat was about to move him. Anyone who tried... well, they were mousebrains.

Relaxing his muscles once more, the voice that he'd tried so hard to ignore before sounded again, but this time it seemed to be standing over him. "Huh?" the tom mewed sleepily. Just barely prying open his eyes to see who it was, who better to try and bug him than Maplestar herself. Great StarClan, why her of all cats? Well, when he thought about it, it wasn't like it really mattered. Yes she was his Leader, but it was obvious that she didn't have that strict aura about her as did his late mother, Firestar, so she wasn't any-cat to be particularly worried about.

"I'm a bit busy," he mumbled, closing his eyes once more and continuing not to move an inch.

"Oh are you sure? I would love to talk to you!" Maplestar tried her best to get the tom to talk to her. Being close to her clanmates was something that she valued and wanted to be better at, and she decided that she would somehow get Alfalfatuft to open up. Sitting down next to him, she wrapped her tail around her paws and relished the warmth of the sun that shone down. She could see why Alfalfatuft was spending his time here, it was quite nice. Doing her best to make conversation, she asked a question. "How are you enjoying the day? It's awful rare to get sun like this in Leaf-bare, yeah?"

Letting out a sigh, it was obvious that the leader wasn't going to leave no matter how much he fought her presence. Even so, it wasn't like he was going to let her completely ruin his state of comfort and so as she spoke, he continued to not move a muscle. Once she finished, he waited a few extra moments, letting the silence set in as if he wasn't planning to reply, until he actually did.

"Yeah it's nice... great to take naps in," he mewed before opening his jowls and letting out a long yawn. If only he'd stayed asleep, maybe then he wouldn't have to be entertaining Maplestar. If she wanted to chat with someone, she should've gone to find Strawpaw; that little she-cat would never stop talking and maybe she would've even been able to wear the leader down.
