The Great Game (closed)

The moon hung heavy and low in the sky. It was early into the night as the stranger slunk into ThunderClan territory, their fur heavy with mud leaving streaks and plants weighed down by muck. They had no scent, and their shape was hard to make sense of. They stalked through the undergrowth, sticking to the oaks and dense shrubbery, unfortunately they got caught on some thorns and left some short fur behind, unfortunately, no color could be properly identified due to mud staining it and sticking to their pelt. They did not have to stray far from the border when they saw a cat on their lonesome, perhaps on a night patrol. The stranger ducked behind an oak, underneath a dense bush and watched, and waited for them to come closer; their claws unsheathed and eyes turning to gleaming slits.

Oakleap padded around as she searched for prey. She had wandered off from the night patrol, due to her wanting to provide for all the sick cats. A twinge of pity boiled in her chest, as she thought about them. Hopefully she'll be able to catch some prey soon.

She slowed to a stop, as she sniffed the air. The faint, but recent scent of a squrriel filled it, as a smile came to Oakleap's maw. Perfect. Now the sick cats can have a nice, hearty squrriel to eat. The tabby she-cat kept sniffing around, as she caught the scent of the squrriel's trail. She crouched down, and stalked towards it, not realizing that she was right next to where her murdered was hiding.

They watched eagerly as their patience paid off, their target; their prey had saved them the trouble of leaping over underbrush, which could have saved their hide had they gotten stuck or made too much noise. It was as if StarClan themselves had all but wanted this to happen, for this cat to be struck down by their claws. They coiled up, muscles tightening as they readied for a pounce, then as Oakleap just got the slightest bit closer, they pounced. They leaped high and forwards almost as high as a SkyClan cat, claws unsheathed. No time was wasted as they wrapped their front paws around the ThunderClan cat, their teeth fastened into their throat as they used their back legs to push them into the dirt. It would be a quick and easy kill, the element of surprise being the deciding factor of this fight.

Oakleap's attempt at hunting was soon caught off, when suddenly a cat had attacked her. She let a yelp as they did so, fear striking into her. She unsheathed her claws, ready to fight what was attacking her. Her hind legs scrambled, as she was weighed down by her attacker. Pain struck her, as her attacker bit down on her neck. Were they trying to kill her?! Oakleap's eye widened as she tried to yell out. "Someone! Help! I'm being..." Her words faded out, as air escaped her. Her breathing got shallower and shallower, as she tried calling out again, only this time, instead of words, came raspy coughs. And in each cough, blood splattered out. Tears started swelling in her eyes, as the pain on her neck got more, and more unbearable. A pain filled sob escaped her, along with her last breath.


Her eyes dilated, as her struggling came to a stop. A final tear fell down her cheek, as blood pooled from her mouth and neck wound, her expression pained.
