Father son day

Badgerpaw woke up with a yawn and padded out of the apprentice den. His mentor was nowhere in sight so badger sat down and groomed his fur in the rising sunlight.

Having just returned from a hunting patrol, Lightningstar spotted one of his younger kits bathing in the sunlight near the apprentice den. He didn't get much time to spend with his kin in such a hard and demanding season, and he certainly wasn't good with words, but he knew at least making an effort would be worth it in the end. Maybe then, his kits wouldn't grow to resent him like Nightstalker...

"Enjoying the sun I see?" the abnormally large and broadly built leader mewed as he padded up to his son.

BadgerPaw looked up at his father with a smile. “Yes, the sun feels nicely on my black pelt. How are you doing today dad?” He mewed at LightningStar with a glint of adoration in his eyes.


(Badger will never hate lightning, he brags about him all the time and won’t shut up about how glad he is for being the leader’s son. So don’t worry you got a lot to do if you want badger to hate you)

"As good as being a leader in this season can be," the large tom scoffed. Momentarily walking past Badgerpaw, Lightningstar grabbed a vole from the freshkill pile and made his way back to his son, and sat down beside him. The last time he approached one his kits sitting around camp, he'd been yelled at for being too tough on his clanmates, so he decided to not bring up the fact that Badgerpaw should've been out hunting or training, and kept his maw shut.

"How is your training with Sandbreeze going?" the husky voiced leader mewed before taking a bite of the vole and then nudging it towards the younger tom.

“It’s great, and how about you? Did you spot any rouges yet since the gathering?” he purred looking up at his father who was twice the size of him, not including the thick fur that Badgerpaw didn’t have.

"While we haven't spotted any rogues, they sure are clumsy, leaving there tracks everywhere with the snow on the ground," he mewed, looking down to his son. Though Badgerpaw could have a sharp mouth, he would make a fearless warrior, that was for sure.

“Is it hard being leader?” he asked curiously. He loved to ask others about their ranks but never got the chance to ask him.

(Sorry it’s short I woke up freezing and my fingers are numb)

Pondering his curious son's question for a moment, Lightningstar cleared his throat. "It can be at times, yes. Especially when it comes to making certain decisions for the clan as a whole, even if it goes against your own morals," he pointed out and wondered how many times he'd had to do that in his time of being leader. One too many times, that was for sure.

“Will big sister be a good leader like you?” He asked never actually have spent time with his sister, who was also the deputy.

"It's hard to say since cats can change, but I believe she will do just fine, was long as she stays loyal and true to the code and ThunderClan," he mewed with a firm nod. Cloudbreeze definitely had her wits about her, which was a good thing.

“Do you want to hunt or something?” he asked noticing how his father looked like he needed a little break from clan life for a bit.

"Yes, we'd might as well make good use of our time," Lightningstar nodded. Standing up, the large tom gave his fluffy pelt a shake and began to make his way towards the camp entrance, knowing Badgerpaw would follow.

Making his way into the surrounding forest, Lightningstar stayed quiet, personally enjoying such silence, though he assumed it wouldn't last for more than a moment, so long as his son still held onto that curiosity of his.

Badgerpaw followed after his dad with a gleam in his eyes. He never saw his dad hunt or even spent this much time with him so this white and black Tom was excited. His dark blue eyes shinned with excitement and happiness as he wondered if he would learn anything from the great leader and father.

”So, what can you tell me about hunting?” Lightningstar asked, ever so slightly turning his gaze down to Badgerpaw, who looked as if he was about to burst open from joy. Was hunting with him really that exciting? Well, he was glad at least his son thought so.

“What do I tell you? Do I say how different prey need different hunting poses or do I say that stealth is one of the main keys of hunting along with staying downwind. He mewed at his father.

"Both would suffice," Lightningstar replied as they made their way along. Stopping in his tracks, the scent of nearby mouse caught the leader's attention. "Smell that?" he asked, looking to Badgerpaw.

Badgerpaw caught the scent of the mouse his father was talking about. “Yup, I smell mouse.” he mewed quietly to not scare it away.

"Why don't you try and hunt it," Lightningstar mewed, tilting his head towards the scent. He'd been curious on how his son's training had been going, and now, he'd get to see for himself.

Badgerpaw nodded and slowly padded towards the mouse in the hunting crouch. When he was close enough the black and white Tom pounced and sunk his claws into the creature. He picked up the now dead mouse and padded back towards his father with a smile.

"And that's how you catch prey," Lightningstar mewed stoically. Giving his fluffy pelt a shake, the large leader turned back towards the direction of camp. "Let's head back," he spoke, before padding back to camp.

“Ok” he said than padded after his father back to camp.
