Coalpaw's grey paws met the hard black stone of the edge of the Thunderpath with curiosity. She had been told about it before, and warned strongly to stay away from it, but she couldn't see why, besides the fact that it stunk. She padded out into the middle of it, sniffing at the weird Twoleg-reminiscent smell that wafted from the strange oily stone. It made the apprentice's lips curl with disgust, and she was almost too distracted by the odor to feel the growing rumble in her paws or hear the nearing monster ahead of her. Only when she looked up did her golden eyes meet the brighter, scarier white-yellow eyes of a Twoleg monster.
Icy fear prickled along the back of her neck before instinct took hold of her and she bolted forward, tail barely missing the monster by a few hairs as she tumbled forward into the grass into a heap of black fur. The she-cat laid there for a moment, trying to collect herself, before she stood, shaking the dirt from her pelt and looking around. It took her a few blinks to realize that she did not recognize her surroundings, and a few more moments to realize that she had bolted onto ThunderClan's side of the Thunderpath. More monsters had come, though, and they were speeding across the Thunderpath, blocking her return to her own territory. She did not hear any cats nearby, so she backed a few tail-lengths further away from the Thunderpath, anxiously awaiting safe passage home.
