Sootkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to capture their own prey gather underneath Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!" the deputy called out, his voice ringing out over the clearing.

Sootkit rushed to the clearing. It must be me! It must be me! It has to be my apprentice ceremony! She just could not wait to hunt and fight along the great warriors of her clan.

"Sootkit, please step forward," the deputy called. He sat while the kit stepped towards him. "You have reached the age of six moons, and are now ready to be apprenticed. From this day forth, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Sootpaw." He smiled down at the newly-named apprentice.

"Your mentor shall be Coalspark. Congratulations."

Coalspark had been watching the ceremony idly on her way to go hunting for the Clan, not fully paying attention before her ears perked up as her name was called. An apprentice? She met eyes with the young cat, her brain distantly providing her with the name Sootpaw. The warrior grinned at the small black cat and padded forward to press noses with her new apprentice. "I hope you're ready to train, I was actually just about to go hunting!"

I'm an apprentice! I'm an apprentice now! Sootpaw happily touched nose with her mentor. "No worries, I promise I will be the best apprentice you've ever mentored!"
