Mudkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to capture their own prey gather underneath Highrock for a clan meeting!" Sorrelwing yowled.

Mudkit was so excited! Today was her apprentice ceremony. Out of her littermates, only she and Brindlekit remained unapprenticed. Her mostly white pelt shot out of the nursery at Sorrelwing's call. "Sorrel, Sorrel! Who's my mentor?" She called excitedly, before her mother shushed her with a mouthful of fur, "Fuh Mwommwa! I jwst wwannwa knwow!" Mudkit exclaimed, her mother's tail fluff blurring her words.

"Hush, dear, let Sorrelwing speak." Breezebranch scolded lightly, licking her youngest daughter's head.

As the kit rushed out of the nursery and started squeaking about, the Skyclan deputy narrowed her eyes for a moment but couldnt help but chuckle at the kit's excitement. "You have a lot of energy there," she mewed. "It is time to make you an apprentice! You have reached the age of six moons and it is time to begin your training. Mudkit, please step forward."

Mudkit wriggled from her mother's grasp and darted forward, feathery tail streaming behind her. She trilled with excitement at the deputy's praise. She couldn't help but flash a defiant look towards her mother, bright orange eyes twinkling. "See, Momma?" She challenged, before turning back to Sorrelwing.

Breezebranch sighed in exasperation at her daughter's enthusiasm. Mudkit definitely shared her father's fiery spirit and independence. Oh, she had so much to tell Mudmask! She purred at the thought, and didn't even hear when her youngest challenged her on being so energetic.

"From now on until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Mudpaw, and I will be your mentor," the deputy said. She wasn't exactly ready to handle that bundle of energy but she had already planned out the next several apprentices and mentors. It wasn't like she could mix it up at the last minute. Leaping down, she padded to the newly named apprentice to touch noses.
