Berrykit's Apprentice Ceremony

Filling in for her deputy, the rust coloured leader cleared her throat. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath JaggedRock for a clan meeting!" Firestar was awaiting two cats in particular.

Berrykit tumbled excitedly out of the nursery and to a standstill under the Jaggedrock, shaking out her thick pale ginger fur. Another Clan meeting! This one might be her ceremony! She peered up at the leader with bright eyes, awestruck by the she-cat's height on the rock. Feeling her paws trembling with anticipation, the large kit waited for more words to follow.

She wasted no time in her excitement to finally announce something long overdue. "Berrykit, you've long reached the age of six moons. Today you've earned your right to be an apprentice." Firestar's eyes mischievously flickered to her son and back again to Berrykit. "You will now be known as Berrypaw until the day you become a warrior. Your mentor will be Alfalffatuft."
Perposfully saying Alfalfatuft's name wrong, she wished both Berrypaw and her new mentor a hearty congratulations before ending the meeting.

Berrypaw grinned widely at receiving her new name, resisting the urge to jump up and down with excitement. Finally, she was an apprentice! Alfalfatuft- is that the scary warrior from when I was a kit? Awesome! Her hazel eyes darted around the camp, searching for her mentor's face. She was going to be the best apprentice ever.
