Garkit’s Apprentice Ceremony

Wolfstorm was once again, ready to leap back onto the Branch. Last night, he had completed the ceremony for another new apprentice, and now he was ready to do it again. The sun had rose Hugh into the sky, giving the clan a chance to awaken before he called out the words. Swift and easily, the deputy leapt onto the Branch.

”Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather below the Willow Branch for a clan meeting!”

The gray tom stood, watching the small crowd gather. Riverclan wasn’t as big as some of the other clans, and they were especially lacking in the warrior count. Hopefully that could be resolved, eventually.

Garkit had been laying near the entrance of the nursery, as it had the best airflow and was therefore the coolest. Whether intentionally or not, he was shoved out of his position by the flood of cats out to listen to the Clan meeting, so he figured he ought to go see what was going on now that he'd been disturbed. He sighed and laid near the edge of the crowd of cats, half-tuned in and half-asleep.

Wolfstorm usually saw kits stumbling over themselves in a hurry to make it to the meeting, so Garkit’s rather nonchalant reaction was a bit amusing. Loudly, after a decent crowd had gathered, he called out, ”Garkit, please set forward.” waiting for him to do so, the deputy continued. ”You have reached the age of 6 moons and are ready to be apprenticed. From this day until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Garpaw. Your mentor will be Minnowstream, I hope she will pass down all of her knowledge to you.” With that he leapt off the Branch. He usually didn’t give another apprentice after such a short amount of time, but all the other warriors were mentoring multiple at this point.

Minnowstream was a bit surprised when she was given another apprentice, but nonetheless she had gotten an apprentice. She padded towards Garpaw and touched noses with him. "From what I've seen your a lazy sack of bones. I'll be sure to keep you on your paws." Minnowstream said cheekily.

Whitepaw rushed forward to congratulate the newly-made apprentice, grin plastered on his face, once the Minnowstream and Garpaw touched noses. He was rather surprised that his aunt would be taking on yet another apprentice so soon but then he realized that RiverClan was lacking warriors. He didn't doubt her abilities at all. He was just a tad bit surprised is all. It was a real good sign that RiverClan was being bombarded with new kits that were all now being given their mentors.

"Hey Garpaw! Congrats! Hope you enjoy and savor your time as apprentice. It's a lot of work but it's worth it once you get your warrior name. I know you'll do real swell! Hope we can hang out whenever you're not busy." he meowed excitedly at the younger as he flicked Garpaw's ear with his tail. He then shot Minnowstream a playful smirk before turning away and then proceeding to walk away.
