Rabbit Tossing [CLOSED]

Patchpaw wandered into The Moors, today would make a wonderful day for hunting. There were many prey scents around, there was less snow on the ground lately, maybe this was a sign that Newleaf was drawing closer? A cat could only hope!

Patchpaw huddled down close to the cold ground, he willed the ground to get warmer but he knew it wouldn't. He opened his mouth slightly to get a good whiff of his surroundings. He could smell his friend, Fernpaw nearby. Her scent filled him with happiness, maybe they would hunt together?

Fernpaw was taking a walk around windclan territory when she scented Patchpaw. She decided to pad over to him and see what he was up to. “Hello.” she mewed once she reached the white Tom.

Patchpaw bounced off the ground and danced around his friend. "Hello Fernpaw, I missed you!" he leaned in to nuzzle his friend, "Would you like to come hunting with me?".

“Sure.” she purred and looked around them. “Maybe we should head that way a bit since you made so much noise.” she mewed and started to pad over to where she pointed.

Patchpaw took a swat at Fernpaw's tail as she walked past him before following her. He crouched down low and took a large sniff for any nearby prey. He looked at Fernpaw questioningly, as if asking 'Do you smell anything?'.

Fernpaw opened her mouth a tiny bit and caught the scent of rabbit. She silently got into a hunting crouch and stalked her prey. When she was close enough without the rabbit noticing her she pounced....

Fernpaw missed and the rabbit got away.

Patchpaw purred with amusement as his fluffy friend missed the rabbit. He crouched down low and scented another rabbit not far away from their position. "I'll show you how it's really done" he boasted, trying to impress his friend. He crept closer and pounced.

He bit into the rabbit, and turned to Fernpaw a cheeky grin spreading on his face. He put the rabbit down and scraped some dirt over to hide it from predators.

She rolled her eyes and caught the scent of a mouse. She stalked slowly towards it. She pounced claws out...

Fernpaw missed yet again and sadly walked back to Patchpaw.

Patchpaw cackled at Fernpaw, he batted her softy over the head with a paw. "Don't worry, you'll get it, I scent a rabbit over there, why don't you try catching it? You're probably just having bad luck!".

He crouched and sat silently watching Fernpaw.

Fernpaw stalked the scent until she could see the little creature. It’s ears were sticking straight up listening for any predators so she had to be quiet. She got a little closer before pouncing....

The rabbit heard her and ran into his hole.

Patchpaw rolled over cackling "Your paws are failing you today!" he howled, with no consideration of the prey he was scaring off. "You should probably pay more attention when your mentor tries teaching you" his laugh died into occasional giggles. He rasped his tongue over Fernpaw's ear.

He got back into the hunters position and opened his maw to scent any nearby prey, prey that he'd probably scared off due to his laughter. He crept through the frosty grass cracking under his feet.

He sighted a large hare that hadn't heard or seen him, 'what a stupid hare, is he dumb AND deaf?'. He sprung and killed it swiftly, the buried it under the dirt.

Fernpaw watched him and got a little jealous. She decided to kept going until she finally caught something. Fernpaw scented another rabbit and went back into the hunting crouch. She slowly stalked the poor creature before pouncing.

Just then a Fox came out of nowhere scaring away her prey.



The Fox growled at the two cats knowing he should attack first.

The fox eyed up Fernpaw and Patchpaw, deciding between them. He lunged at Patchpaw, snapping at him with large, sharp teeth.

Patchpaw feeling blood dripping down his flank gets enraged, he lashes back at the fox with his hooked claws aiming for the foxes beady eyes.

Fernpaw saw the fox injure Patchpaw and got mad. She pounced on the thing biting down hard on it’s back leg.

The fox howled in pain, it angrily snatched up Patchpaw in it's teeth ragging him around as Patchpaw yowled furiously.

Patchpaw kicked his hind-legs off the foxes throat and scrabbling with his front paws at the foxes snout.

Patchpaw had caused enough pain to the fox that it released him.
