blue skies, one cloud, one sun (SOLO)

A sharp, cold breeze characteristic of Leaffall cut across the moors of WindClan territory. The grass waved to its whim, rippling vigorously, not unlike the frothing waters of the Gorge. Cloudpaw's fur was parted something fierce as he padded around, his mouth agape and his eyes searching the horizon. Though the winds signaled a storm was on its way, the clouds had not yet reached his skies quite yet, with only a single forerunner streaking above Highstones in the distance. The white tom had parted from the hunting patrol temporarily, his paws quick to follow the prey-paths etched into the dirt.

As he moved, the scent of hare grew stronger around a particular area. He paused before maneuvering himself downwind. Creeping closer to the source, he could hear scraping and shuffling from within a warren. Something was in there. He waited patiently as clods of dirt and clay were thrown backwards out of the hole. After a while, the digger popped out to shake itself of debris. Its long ears swiveled warily, but they did so in vain. Cloudpaw dashed forward between the hare and its den, cutting off its escape route. It squeaked in alarm and fled, but not for long. He soon caught up to his quarry and tackled it, wrestling with it until he could deliver the final bite. He sat beside it and panted for a moment. His first catch of the day!
