Eagleblaze wasn’t happy he hadn’t been chosen as deputy. It was his dream, his goal, his ambition. What was he supposed to do with his life if he wasn’t a leader one day? He had made a vow that he would, to show the clan he was more than just a warrior. He wanted to make a difference, be remembered. He had to do this. And it started with getting on Featherstep’s good side. If he befriended the tom, maybe he would see fit to choose Eagleblaze as his deputy one day, if he ever became leader. He shivered, a cool breeze cutting at his back like a knife as he approached the deputy.
"Hello, Featherstep. Would you like to go hunting with me?" As he looked at Featherstep, his stomach dropped, churning. That feeling was jealousy, wasn’t it? It had to be, although it was much stronger than any bout he had felt before. He pushed those uncertainties and worries back into the depths of his mind. He could ponder about his feelings later. Now he needed to be focused, fully aware. Still, it was a bit hard with all of that jealousy. The tabby smiled, flicking his tail softly in an attempt to seem sincere with his actions. The deputy surely wouldn’t turn down a hunt, and then his plan would be set into action.
little does he know that it’s not jealousy at all
