A Badger Beating (closed)

Brightpaw plodded into camp, still unable to shake the dazed disorientation from getting crushed into a tree by the badger. Despite the lack of external injuries, she felt like crowfood. She dropped her squirrel from the hunt- turned badger attack on the freshkill pile before slowly limping towards the medicine cat den with Dovepaw. Her fellow apprentice certainly needed more help than she did. The blood staining her friend's white pelt far more pressing than her own... Whatever was wrong with her. Brightpaw's head throbbed and whole body ached as she moved. Though it felt like everything moved on a slight delay from her expectations. Maybe the medicine cats couldn't do much for her but maybe just something for the pain would be enough...

"Mistedsong? Condorpaw?" she called into the den, words rough and slightly slurred. "Dovepaw needs some treatment."

Dovepaw limped next to brightpaw really starting to hate Badgers, why would an ugly badger attack pretty cats like her and brightpaw! What's worse is her pretty coat got ruined by her blood! Dovepaw looked down at her shoulder and sighed, her anger was stronger than the pain so it felt like a sting compared to what it actually probably felt like. Dovepaw stayed quiet as brightpaw called the medicine cats, needing to calm down before she snapped at anyone near her. Dovepaw barely got angry but when it happened she didn't like others to see.

Condorpaw poked her head out from the storage part of the medicine cat den, her amber eyes looking the two up and down a bit. "You two lay down because I'm sure it's not just Dovepaw that needs a helping paw right now." Condorpaw snarked before she disappeared back around the corner to decide on what she needed. She'd definitely need poppy seeds for the pain, not a lot but a seed or two would help, she would also require to have cobwebs to bind the wound closed, marigold was a basic and most effective herb but it couldn't hurt to have horsetail in the mix. Now, for Brightpaw she wasn't sure, but she seemed unsteady and didn't really seem all there, she had no idea how to help that but she'd figure it out. Grabbing her bundle of herbs, she grabbed the poppy seed delicately and pushed it to Dovepaw's mouth. "Eat, it's a painkiller but I only gave you one so you don't get too tired." She mewed flatly before shoving the marigold and horsetail into her mouth. She struggled to chew it all, but the smaller and pulpier it got the easier. Condorpaw made quick work of Dovepaw's shoulder wound, rubbing and massaging the polituce in. "Brightpaw, while I'm working on Dovepaw, why don't you tell me what happened and how you're feeling?" She mewed, not looking to the she-cat as she addressed her.

Brightpaw gratefully slumped to the ground at Condorpaw's instruction. She was exhausted and her energy seemed to drain ever faster since the adrenaline from the fight had subsided. Resting her head on her paws, she distractedly watched as Condorpaw got to work pulling out herbs and tending to Dovepaw's injury. Good. Hopefully that'll heal well. It took a long moment for her to process the tabby's words. "Uh. Oh-yeah." She lifted her head and blinked a few times to try to focus. "Uhh. We.. were out hunting. And. A- uh. Uh, badger attacked Dovepaw! It squished me in a tree." Her brow furrowed slightly, words weren't working quite how she wanted. "Into?" She stared at her paws for a moment before dismissing it with a heavy sigh which caused her ribs to ache and she grimaced. Twitching her ear, she dropped her head back to her paws with a muffled,"Ev'rything hurts and 'm tired." The too quick movement made everything spin for a moment.

Dovepaw winced as condorpaw took care of her wound. As she was calmed down now she realized that brightpaw was also in pain, maybe even more than her. She watched as brightpaw tried to explain what happened and tried not to laugh. Her friend was in pain, she shouldn't be making fun of her.

Condorpaw's eyebrows creased with obvious concern as she finished with Dovepaw, she was still new to her apprenticeship and wasn't sure what was too wrong with Brightpaw. "I'll be honest, I've no idea how to help you right now. For now I want you to rest, it sounds like it's a head injury to me. You're not going to do your apprentice duties for... a month unless Mistedsong says otherwise." Condorpaw meowed, lifting her paw to her mouth in thought.

Brightpaw blinked slowly up at Condorpaw. That was.... such a long time... She sighed into the ground. But if that was how long it'd take, she supposed she couldn't really argue. Her entire body pulsed with pain like a giant bruise. Exhaustion pulled at her and she allowed her eyes to drift shut. Maybe sleep would help...

Dovepaw didn't want to leave brightpaw alone so curled up with her and drifted off to sleep.
