If Only It Could Be Like This Forever

Maplekit had snorted at her comeback, before replying "Just you wait, I'll be the best tree climber the clan has ever seen! I'll bring back eggs!"

Maplekit had pulled himself off the ground, watching her laughing her pelt off. He hastily licked his fur, cleaning it from the light dusting that shown on his dark pelt from rolling around in the dirt with his sister. He paused for a moment to check on Swiftkit, and then continued on his quick groom, which ended up with his fur sticking up in places, but dirt-free.

Icekit watched the young kits playing from where he was sitting. They were about 4 moons younger than he was. They were the first newborns he'd seen and wondered if he had looked like that. His first memory was being found in the forest by Breezebranch. "Geez, your guys are loud," he complained grumpily.

Lilykit looked at her Maplekit. ”Uhuh, and when you do, come show me!” She grinned, until Icekit grumpily complained. ”Go somewhere else if it bothers you that much.”. She started to groom her pelt just like her brother was doing.

"Lily, don't be mean to Ice! He's our kin, and he's almost an apprentice! Momma wouldn't be happy if we fought!" Mudkit squeaked, bright orange eyes wide. She was an oddball, preferring to call cats by their prefix only.

"But I'm not your kin," Icekit answered. "I was abandoned in the snow! Any cat who was my actual kin didn't want me and it's no different here," he snapped. The snowy white tom stood and leapt from the clearing and climbed the ledge out of camp. He couldn't stay here.

Lilykit sighed. ”You’re right Mudkit... Sorry Icekit.” She was alarmed as he leapt away. ”Wait! Icekit!” She ran after the white kit, scolding herself. You were so mean to him! No wonder he is leaving! Her smaller legs were a lot slower than his long ones. Before long, she was out of breath, unable to chase her brother further.

Maplekit had simply rolled his eyes. "He'll get over it sooner or later." He had simply then was watching Lilykit chase after him, but Maplekit stayed in his spot, curling his fluffy paws underneath him. He licked his jaws once, after catching the scent of the prey pile, but didn't go over, as he was still unsure if he was old enough to have a taste.

At that moment, Breezebranch walked out. And what she saw shocked her. "Maplekit, Mudkit, Lilykit, nursery. Now. Icekit, sweetheart!" Breezebranch mewed sternly to her kits, then turned and ran after her adoptive son. To her, her was her son. "Icekit, Icekit! Come back, please!" She called desperately. Thanks to her longer legs, she was able to catch up to him quickly. She wrapped herself around the snowy white tom and licked his head. "What's wrong, dear? Is everything okay?" She mewed, green eyes filled with anxiety.

Mudkit was appalled. Why was she being sent to the nursery? Lilykit had apologized, it was only Maplekit, her dumb brother, who had been mean! "But, Momma!-" Her protest was cut short as the bigger she-cat raced after her son, worry in her mew. Mudkit was left with no option but to pad begrudgingly towards the nursery.

However, Maplekit just rolled his eyes. He wasn't very caring, Icekit wasn't even his brother. His mother just took him in, pitying him because of not having any kin. It wasn't his fault that he got touchy just because he existed. Maplekit sat where he was, he was already right next to the nursery den entrance, so he didn't bother to move except for swishing his tail so it was laying right inside the nursery den.

He watched Mudkit's reaction, as well as his other siblings. Maplekit just sat there, his big eyes watching his mother run over to Icekit, he lifting a paw to push it up and over his ear, grooming his face lazily.

(Someone could have told me to post, do non of u care about posting order! Also breeze didn’t even say swift’s name, she is alone lol)

Swiftkit was silently watching the others fight not knowing what they were saying or even what Icekit was doing. She wished she could understand them better but she knew it was a waste. Swiftkit silently padded towards the apprentice den as it looked like her siblings and even mother forgot she was there.
