A Hunting Battle Combo [CLOSED]

This totally isn't my way of knocking out both a battle and hunting patrol in one for Valerian. Nope.

Cloudbreeze, awake before the sun even peeked over the horizon as she had every day since she had been appointed Deputy, stirred in her nest. The list of her duties had rolled through her head, the organized chaos of her categorically storaged mind mechanically determining the order to which to execute her tasks for the day. Aside from organizing all of the patrols for the day, which she could quickly do, it would be time to take out her new apprentice. It was strange in her mind. Should she call Valeriank- paw, her apprentice, or her brother? It seemed her apprentice was much more noble. The apprentice of the deputy.

Taking the time she needed to do organize to ThunderClan who was to go where for the day, a swift leap from the high rock carried her to the apprentice's den. "Valerianpaw, meet me at the entrance of the camp when you are ready." She knew he would be awake. Ever since he could walk, she had noticed the young kit being very alert and always awake when she was. Despite his attempts to hide it.

And she was absolutely right; he had been awake. Valerianpaw usually found himself as an early riser and personally enjoyed the tranquility and silence that encompassed the mornings while his clanmates still slept in their warm nests. He took such time of isolation to gather his thoughts for the day, think about the topic he left off thinking about before he fell asleep, and so forth. The apprentice, though young, was already very knowledgable in many aspects of apprentice-hood. Obtaining such knowledge came with many minutes and hours of simply sitting back and observing, but he was perfectly fine with things being that way. Some cats thought that the silence and vigilant apprentice was even a bit... mysterious, so to speak.

Turning his head as Cloudbreeze’s soft voice entered the den, the fluffy tom stood up, gave his pelt a shake, and padded out of the dimly lit den. Making his way over to his older sister, he dipped his head in a respectful greeting. ”We will be hunting today, correct?” he asked, though he’d already assumed that’s what they were going to do, seeing as though it was the only plausible option for this time of hour.

Valerianpaw's greeting was returned with a gentle nod of her own, the deputy taking no time to sit as it was only moments until her much fluffier sibling appeared. As he had definitely guessed her plans, it was very tempting to suddenly change them up on him. Of course, she never was one to do things on the fly. "Correct. Depending upon how successful hunting is, I may teach you some battle tactics as well." Signaling with the flick of her tail to go, Cloudbreeze led her apprentice out of the camp. It was a path that was quickly growing worn by the many paws that crossed the threshold, the grass that once covered it slowly wittling away to be hard-packed earth.

Setting a gentle pace that was just slightly above a walk, the she-cats gaze quickly went to searching the forest floor. "What can you tell me about hunting in our territory?" She knew that Valerianpaw knew quite a bit, however, she wanted to know just all that he knew before she gave instruction.

Glad that he'd guessed correctly, Valerianpaw followed his sister out of the camp walls and through the forest. Padding along side Cloudbreeze, he knew the answer, but took a moment to ponder her question before answering, for he didn't want to seem like a total know-it-all.

"When hunting in our territory, we want to keep an eye out for any possible prey. Mice and voles often hide under brush and in the stumps of trees, while squirrels and even birds can be found on the forest floor, but are easily spooked and more difficult to catch. While hunting, we also want to keep an eye out for any lurking predators that might try to take advantage of us while we're focused on our hunt," the fluffy, stoic apprentice mewed with a nod, hoping he'd given his mentor the answer she had been looking for.
