Icekit had been kicked out during the birth of his adoptive siblings. He understood why, but that one moment had changed things. Breezebranch was busier than ever with nursing the six ravenous mouths and watching over her brood. The snowy kit turned his blue and green eyes to the nursery, listening to the mewling inside. He would be apprenticed soon, but Icekit always felt like he didn't really belong here. The only times he felt truly at home were when he climbed to the top of the gorge at night. Something about the freezing wind just felt... familiar. Icekit sighed and stood, shaking the dust from his coat. Maybe he could try hunting.

Shrikepaw padded back into camp with a couple of the warriors, back from a patrol. She noticed Icekit, and her eyes narrowed a bit. She still didn't think they should just be taking in random cats willy-nilly, but at least the kit was safe now. At least it hadn't been an older cat. Padding over, she sat down next to the white kit.

"Hey, Snowkit, why the somber look?" She asked, eyeing the expression on his face.
