Acornkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to capture their own prey gather underneath Highrock for a clan meeting!" Sorrelwing yowled from her perch.

Nearly floundering in her haste to follow suit on Sorrelwing's heels, Acornkit could hardly keep the bounce out of her step as she practically pranced along the length of the clearing. Starstruck gaze remaining entirely focused on the lean shape of the Deputy, the little tortoiseshell couldn't help the excited wiggle that ran down her spine at the familiar summons- it was finally her turn, that stupid sniffle wouldn't be able to keep her in camp anymore!

Breezebranch padded after one of her two kits who still remained unapprenticed. Whitecough had kept her from it for so long, Breezebranch was ecstatic it was finally her turn. When she saw Acornkit's pelt, however, her green eyes stretched wide. "Acornkit! You can't go anywhere looking like that!" She mewed in disbelief. She wrapped a paw around her kit and began to roughly lick her pelt until it shone like stars.

Sorrelwing glanced down at the kit who approached her in the clearing. "Acornkit, you have reached the age of six moons. It is time that you become an apprentice. From now until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Acornpaw. Your mentor will be me. We begin training at Sunrise." The deputy leaped down from the rock and padded to her new apprentice, touching noses.

Letting out a soft little trill as Sorrelwing approached in the immediate aftermath of the ceremony, the tortoiseshell couldn't help but tremble and twitch with blatant enthusiasm as the pair of she-cat's leaned forward to touch noses. Although the prospect of getting up at sunrise and indulging in hard-labor wasn't entirely too appealing, Acornpaw could hardly resist the surge of adrenaline at the thought of going out and about alongside the Deputy.
