A relatively uninteresting day stretched out before the molly, one comprised of the headache of organising patrols and taking her apprentice out, a tom who had the tendency to be gently impatient. As the sun settled overhead, a warm wind wrestled its way through the dip of moorland WindClan made their camp in, and she fought off a crinkle of her nose at the moderately greasy feeling it imbued into her fur. Heronfeather took little pleasure in hot weather, preferring the gentle warmth of a newleaf or leaf-fall sun, one that was generally accompanied by cooler winds that suited her thick fur much more. Shaking out her pelt, she began to ponder on who to assign for tonight's border patrol before noticing a familiar snaking tail disappearing into the shrubbery of the dirt-place tunnel. A tail she wouldn't normally be suspicious of due to the size, but she knew better than that.
Shrikecall's kit had been a recent point of contention in the clan, his maternal origins largely unknown but his features resembling her former apprentice had been helpful in providing some insight of who the parents were. The deputy didn't care, Shrikecall was rather close to family, much like his mother who had recently spent every waking moment rambling about the disrespect displayed by ShadowClan's new leader, Magpiewing. Or maybe Magpiestar, the molly was sure Brindlestar would somehow know his new name by now. However the tomkit had displayed himself to be a trouble maker, and shown some level of fondness towards her adopted son Yewkit, and he seemed to be displaying his own rebellious streak as his tail-tip disappeared out of sight. Heronfeather immediately followed, annoyance bubbling in her chest at the danger the kit could be putting himself in.
Within heartbeats she had caught up to the kit, standing tall above him with her oversized tail twitching in anger, blocking him from proceeding onto the moorland any further. "What in StarClan's name do you think you're doing, Thornkit?" the molly asked, olive eyes narrowing as she awaited a response.
