Fernkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Cloudbreeze yawned as she braced herself for her jump, taking a moment to shake out the cold before taking her spot upon the gathering place. Laying down due to the slight ache in her bones, Cloudbreeze called out. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the High Rock for a clan meeting!"

Bouncing over to the gathering cats at her big sister's call, Fernkit sat down and waited with wide eyes. She'd groomed herself lots and was ready to become an apprentice.

Cloudbreeze nodded towards the kit in question, the neatly-groomed pelt easy to spot amongst the somewhat dirtier warriors. "Today, we are here to welcome yet another apprentice. Fernkit, you have reached the age of six moons. From this day until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Fernpaw. I trust Lightningstar to be your mentor." It wasn't often she had her father take on an apprentice, but he needed a bit of spry youth in his life.

Listening to Cloudbreeze, Fernkit turned around and ran over to where Lightningstar was with a big smile. "I can't wait to train with you dad!" she mewed as she touched his big nose, her tail moving back and forth in excitement.

Padding up to his daughter when his name was called, Lightningstar touched noses with her. Her excitement was obvious and he was glad that she was enthusiastic about training. "We start training at dawn," he mewed in his usual stern sort of manner as he would to any-cat.
