A not so quiet forest (closed)

Sitting near the camp entrance and giving his thick pelt a good grooming, Bigfoot waited for some-cat to join him for a quick evening hunting patrol before it got too cold and dark. The Leafbare days had grown shorter and shorter, and now time was truly of the essence if any-cat wanted to get hunting in before the prey hunkered down early each night.

Blazeheart padded out of the warrior den to see his old mentor looking around. "Hey old man, what are you looking for?" He asked not seeing any other cats around. Everyone was probably in the dens or on patrol.

"Old? Old? Ha, you wish!" Bigfoot laughed wholeheartedly at his former apprentice's comment. Standing up, he gave his golden pelt a shake. "I'm goin' huntin', wanna join?" he mewed with a smile.



"Mind if I join?" Valerianroot mewed as he approached the pair. Blazeheart had just recently been given his warrior name and he found himself curious as to how well his brother had trained him. Of course, he knew Bigfoot was a master at battle and wouldn't let any of his apprentices rank up without knowing how to defend themselves, but hunting was another matter.

Blazeheart smiled at his old mentor before looking at valerianroot with a glare. He did try not to glare but he was so used to it, but he did keep his smile towards the grey tom. The two cats were brothers so blazeheart knew they were good, and besides, their brother did tell him to start trusting his clan more. Blazeheart glanced quickly at the sky, thinking about the words badgerstorm told him.

"Of course we'd love to have ya!" Bigfoot purred with happiness at his brother's arrival. Three cats was a good number for patrols and turning towards the entrance he looked back to his clanmates before continuing onward. "Let's get goin' then!" the large tom mewed before trotting off, knowing the others would easily catch up.

"Aight, where ya wanna hunt?" the warrior asked his former apprentice as the trio padded through the thickly wooded forest.





Staying quiet and slowing his pace so that he followed behind the other warriors, Valerianroot simply observed the two of them. Bigfoot and Blazeheart were certainly polar opposites much like he was with the beefy warrior, but it seemed as though the two of them had been managing to get along thus far.

Blazeheart thought about it before shrugging. "We could hunt at the big tree." He mewed to bigfoot.

"Works for me!" Bigfoot mewed at his former apprentice's idea. Bounding off towards the large tree that Blazeheart had mentioned, the big boned warrior slowed his pace. Lifting his muzzle, he scented the air for anything that was around the area, but he didn't need to as a squirrel descended from the tree above. Crouching down, the fluffy golden warrior watched as the squirrel began to dig up some food from the forest floor. Stalking forward, he lifted and placed his large paws as quietly as possible and getting close enough to the prey, he pounced and landed perfectly onto the bushy tailed rodent. Killing it before it could squeal, he stood up and gave his pelt a shake before padding back to where he'd left the others. 'A job well done,' he praised himself silently, a wide smile across his muzzle.





Nodding at Blazeheart's idea, Valerianroot watched as his brother ran off. At that pace, he was going to scare all the prey off... Padding away from the younger tom, he quickly caught the scent of mouse and getting into his hunting stance, he crept forward until he spotted the plump little rodent nibbling on some seeds. Pouncing, he killed the mouse swiftly, glad that he'd calculated his pounce just right and had made a kill. Grabbing the mouse, he padded back to the others. Bigfoot had also managed to get something and that just left Blazeheart.
