Quick hunting patrol (open)

Grooming himself near the camp entrance, Alfalfatuft waited for some-cat to join him. He despised going on patrols, but was being forced to get out of camp and do something by none other than Maplestar himself and apparently he didn't have a choice this evening. Whoever joined him, he just hoped they could get it done as quickly as possible.

Silkpaw flicked his ear, as he cleaned his fur. It wasn't something he usually did. He was actually doing it because he was bored. There were no bugs around, and all the other apprentices, were out on patrols. Plus ever since Splashfur and Beetlefrost had became warriors, he could barely talk to them!

As he lifted his head to clean another spot on his fur, he noticed Alfalfatuft sitting near the entrance. Did he want to go hunting. I wonder if he'll let me come! He thought, perking his ears up excitedly. Maybe since everyone else was busy, maybe he should make himself busy! Flawless logic! He jumped up onto his paws, and ran over to the older warrior, looking up at him excitedly. "Hey, are you going hunting? Can I come?" He asked, barely containing his excitement.

Raising a non-existant brow at the enthusiastic apprentice that had approached him, he opened his maw as he was about to snap at the younger tom, but quickly shut it, remembering that he needed to go on a patrol unless he didn't want dinner tonight. Letting out a sigh, the fluffy warrior stood up and gave his pelt a shake.

"I guess so," he sighed as he turned towards the camp entrance and started walking. "Let's get this over with," the grumpy, plump warrior mewed.

Perking up, Silkpaw followed after the older warrior, his pelt pricking up with excitment. "Sweet!" He chirped. Soon he'd be on par with his former denmates, and be just as busy as them!

Padding through the marshy territory to nowhere in particular, the fluffy red warrior stayed silent for a while before knowing he'd need to speak sooner or later, and better sooner so that the apprentice didn't start rambling like they usually seemed to. "Alright..." Alfalfatuft began with a sigh, turning his gaze to the white and ginger tom. "What do you know about hunting?"

Silkpaw bounced up and down. "Oh that you have to crouch real low and leap and then kill it by biting down on it's neck real hard! But not too hard or else it'll get all bloody and wouldn't be edible. It'd only be good for scaring for kits!" Silkpaw meowed, his mismatched eyes widening with excitement. "Oh and I guess you have to sniff the air first you can find the prey." He added quickly.

Rolling his eyes at the apprentice's visible excitement, he gave a nod. "Yep, you're right. Why don't you try and hunt something?" he mewed, ending in a yawn. Maybe if Silkpaw got busy he'd be able to do some hunting himself.

Silkpaw nodded excitedly, as his smile widened even more, if that was even possible. He sniffed the air as the scent of a toad filled his nose. Silkpaw crouched down, and stalked towards the scent, excitement wafting off of him. He soon saw the toad, padded towards it, trying to not make a sound. Then, he leapt, and trapped the toad in his claws. He bit down on it, and it fell limp. Pride swelled in Silkpaw's chest, as he stood up, toad in mouth. I caught it! I caught it! He thought excitedly, as he started bouncing up and down in overwelming excitement. With this catch, he was getting closer and closer to becoming a warrior!

Nodding his head in silence as Silkpaw successfully caught a toad a few foxlengths away, Alfalfatuft decided he'd better get busy himself. Padding forward for a little bit, the scent of a small mammal caught his nose and crouching down into his stalking position and sniffing around, he soon enough spotted a vole nibbling on its meal. Trying his best to not drag his admittedly plump belly across the marshy ground, he made his way slowly but surely towards the vole. Pouncing, the amber warrior landed squarely onto the little rodent and killed it with a swift bite to its neck.

Carrying his catch back to where he'd left Silkpaw, he set the prey down and licked the blood from his lips. "Ready to go?" he called out to whereever the apprentice was.
