Oddkit's Apprentice Ceremony

The deputy leapt onto the Jaggedrock, the words slipping out of his mouth as it became more of a habit. "Let all cats old enough to capture their own prey gather underneath Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!" He could still recall the first time Firestar tasked him with such an important duty. He nearly fell off the rock he now sat comfortably on.

He couldn't help hide his overwhelming satisfaction. Another apprentice for ShadowClan. They were growing once more, and it made the tom glow with pride.

Oddkit excitedly hopped over, her fur was tingling. Her mother, Smallstream sat beside her, her chest swelled with pride as she looked down at her litter.

Oddkit looked across the clearing and could see her father, Dampfoot. His eyes sparkled as he stared at the children he had fathered before looking up at the Jaggedrock. Oddkits eyes followed his as she looked at the Shadowclan deputy, Magpiewing.

She held her breath, she knew what was coming.

Once a small crowd had gathered and the buggy-eyed kit sat expectantly, the deputy cleared his throat and spoke out above the small hum of cats. "Oddkit, please step forward."

Oddkit jumped up so suddenly she nearly stumbled, she took a deep breath and walked forwards and took her place under the Jaggedrock.

The deputy took a deep breath. "You have reached the age of six moons, and are now ready to be apprenticed. From this day forth, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Oddpaw," he called with a smile on his face. "Your mentor shall be Alfalfatuft. Congratulations." With those final words, he jumped down from the Jaggedrock and rested his muzzle on the new apprentice's head before joining the soft cheers around them.

Oddpaw held her nose out, excitedly waiting for her mentor.

Padding forward with his head and tail high, Alfalfatuft leaned down and touched noses with the fluffy black she-cat that was now his apprentice. "You'd better become the best warrior this forest has ever seen," he stated bluntly, giving his fur a shake.
