A little hunt (Closed)

Minnowpaw padded out of camp, yawning. Minnowpaw had just been on a dawn patrol and then she was put on a hunting patrol. Great. Minnowpaw sat as she waited for everyone else to pad out of camp. Her green eyes fluttered around as she waited. She heard the camp entrance rustled. She turned around to see the rest of the patrol coming out.

Bluepaw trotted out of camp, his tail held high. He'd volunteered for the hunting patrol because he thought perhaps he could impress Lichenstar. He was so proud that he had the leader of the Clan as his mentor, but he wasn't sure he really deserved the honor. He figured he should work as hard as possible, perhaps harder than the other apprentices. After all, he wasn't anything special...he wasn't even very good at swimming!

"Good morning, Minnowpaw!" Bluepaw purred.

Minnowpaw nodded at her adopted brother. "Do ya wanna go now?" Asked Minnowpaw looking over the terratory.

Bluepaw nodded, although he was a bit nervous. After all, he'd not had a lot of practice with anything yet, so the thought of two apprentices on a hunt together without a warrior was...a bit intimidating. Still, he was sure they'd do fine!

"Sure, ready when you are!"

"Ok lets go then. I was thinking the river." Said Minnowpaw. She padded out into the terratory and didn't stop until they were at the river. She glanced towards Bluepaw. "Do you want to hunt first?" Asked Minnowpaw. She wanted to make sure that Bluepaw would be ready to hunt.

The river sounded good, so Bluepaw followed along with his adoptive sister. She was so confident, and he admired that. It made him feel better about their patrol. Minnowpaw clearly had some idea of what she was doing.

"Oh, uh, sure." Bluepaw nodded, moving closer to the river, paw poised to scoop out a fish.

The small fish landed on the bank, and Bluepaw hurried to bite it by the gills to finish it off. Pride filled his chest - he'd done it! He'd caught his first prey!

"Good job!" Said Minnowpaw. She then crouched down. Her green eyes caught a fish. She then held out her paw above the fish.

She scooped up the fish and held it in her jaws. She caught it! Minnowpaw turned towards Bluepaw.

"You, too!" Bluepaw bumped his shoulder against Minnowpaw's in congratulations. They had done it! Though they were but young apprentices they could help to support their Clan.

"I'm gonna try for another," he decided aloud. The blue point stepped back up to the river, but when he tried to swipe his paw out, he leaned too far forward and went toppling into the water.

Minnowpaw chuckled at her adopted brother. "Come one. Lets head back to camp." Said Minnowpaw with her fish in her jaws. She turned towards the direction of camp looking back to see Bluepaw.

OOC: I love Minnowpaw's and Bluepaw's sibling relationship even if they're not blood related. Its just so cute ^^

Bluepaw luckily didn't fall so far forward that he was unable to get a paw back onto the bank. He still wasn't very strong in the water, and didn't fancy having to try to swim again. He pulled himself out of the water, shivering a little as he shook droplets from his short pelt. It was cold. How were the fish so active and quick when they had to be freezing?

"Probably a good idea," he sighed, grabbing his catch. A bit of his pride and happiness returned. So maybe he wasn't perfect, but he had done this. A twinkle returned to his eyes, and he charged off. "Last one back is a rotten fish!"

Minnowpaw ran after Bluepaw. "I won't be a rotten fish!" Said Minnowpaw, running as she tried to catch up with Bluepaw. Starclan he was fast. But It was kind of fun to be with her adopted brother, training together.

"Neither will I!" Bluepaw called out, laughing, and continued his run back towards the RiverClan camp.
