Long Live the Reckless & The Brave

Shrikepaw padded through the pines, her paws itching to climb one of the trees. She was on a hunting patrol, though, not here to play. Unfortunately. The black and white she-cat loved to play, although most cats who knew of her wouldn't believe that. She had a lot of thorns to get past to truly know her. It made for a sometimes lonely life, even in the Clan that she so loved.

Shaking her head, she turned to look at the other cats in the patrol. "Do we want to split up?"

Swiftpaw was walking besides Shrikepaw and looked when she caught the mouth movements. She only noticed the words ‘split up’ and saw the questioning look in her eyes. “Can’t. Alone.” she said knowing her mother would hate for her to go into the forest alone where she could get hurt since she couldn’t hear if something was around. Her nose and eyes were great but even predators knew how to stay away from sight and to mask their scent.

Lilypaw had looked at Shrikepaw for a while, contemplating. ”I’ll go with Swiftpaw, but we’ll stay close, just holler if you need us,” she said, beckoning Swiftpaw to follow with her tail. She padded a few paw-lengths away before waiting for her sister to join her. She hoped Shrikepaw would be okay, but surely the apprentice was capable.

Sorrelwing padded along with the group of apprentices, sighing heavily as she listened to them ramble on about how they were going to hunt. "Dont go too far. Make sure we meet right back here by sunset. I will be watching you and helping along the way, okay?"

Shrikepaw nodded. That all sounded fine with her. With that, she stalked off among the trees, finding one with some lower branches that she felt confident she could leap from to catch her prey. She scrambled up one, waiting until a bird fluttered away from the safety of it's own branch to try to find a worm or something. Without hesitation, she dropped, claws outstretched towards her feathery target. She immediately began to purr with pleasure as she felt herself hit and quickly bit it's neck to finish it off. A successful catch!
