Eaglekit's Apprentice Ceremony

Soft sunlight cast subtle shadows across the clearing, and the mottled she-cat was glad to find no cold winds whipped through the air and pierced deep into her thick pelt. The scent of new growth was abundant, and for the first time in moons there was enough on the fresh-kill pile for every cat to go to their nests comfortably full tonight. A light purr escaped the deputy as she stretched out, before ascending to the top of Tallrock in a single bound. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath Tallrock for a clan meeting!" Heronfeather called, waiting for the clan to assemble.

The brown tabby bounded out of the den. Both of his sisters had become apprentices, yet he was still stuck in the nursery with his mother. He didn’t understand it, really! He was bigger than them, and stronger, so why wasn’t he in training? How could he be the greatest warrior Windclan has ever seen, (which he will be) when he can’t even become an apprentice? Eaglekit sat down, gazing up at Heronfeather. He wondered who is mentor would be. Hopefully someone good, a strong warrior warrior who could teach him well.

She took in a deep breath as her eyes laid on the last of Fernstep's kits, a brown tabby tom who was sure to outgrow them both. "Eaglekit, please step forward," Heronfeather called, voice ringing out across the clearing. "You have reached the age of 6 moons and as such are ready to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you become a warrior, your new name will be Eaglepaw. Your mentor shall be..." She was hesitant in giving another one of Fernstep's kits to her, but the queen would enjoy having two of her kits to mentor. "Fernstep, I'm confident she will pass on everything she learned from her mentor and more," There was a warm smile on the deputy's face as she descended the rock to congratulate them both.

Fernstep smiled up at heronfeather and nodded in graditude. Bunnypaw and eaglepaw Would be able to train together and maybe even compete but most importantly, Fernstep could be with her kits longer. She padded up to the now named eaglepaw and Touched noses with him. “I will teach you all I know and more!” She purred nuzzling him.

Eaglepaw nodded, bounding over to touch noses with his mother. He smiled, excitedly. She would make him the greatest warrior ever, and he would soon get his warrior name. How hard could training be?
