Swiftkit's Apprentice Ceremony

With a big sigh, Sorrelewing jumped up to Highrock. She was not going to mess up this time. "Let all celts old enough to capture their own prey gather underneath Highrock for a clan meeting!"

Swiftkit was sleeping when her siblings nudged her awake for the meeting. She didn’t know what was going on but followed her mother out and sat next to her.

Breezebranch lovingly licked her daughter's head. Maplekit sat next to her, his ceremony next. Oh, her daughter was already becoming an apprentice. How time went by so fast! Soon, she'd be back to rgular duties, mentoring Lionpaw, her oldest son.

Lilykit smiled. One of her littermates, Swiftkit was becoming an apprentice. The little brown, deaf kit would be an apprentice. She sat, anticipating her ceremony.

Sorrelwing glanced down in the crowd, looking for the kit that she was supposed to apprentice. When she finally saw her, part of her soul left her body. Wasnt that the deaf one? How in Starclan was she supposed to do a ceremony for a cat that couldnt hear her? Why did she have to be her second ceremony? Her face visibly dropped despite her trying to hold it back. "Today we to make this kit an apprentice. Swiftkit, uh.. step forward." she locked eyes with the kit and threw her head back as an attempt to signal for her to step up.

Swiftkit padded forwards confused when the deputy motioned. Was she in trouble? She didn’t think she did anything wrong.

Breezebranch's loving smile fell as she saw the deputy's reaction. The tortoiseshell-tabby visibly had to stifle a growl, and her eyes narrowed. Was Sorrelwing judging her daughter for being deaf? It wasn't as if Swiftkit could control it! Gently, she nudged her daughter, breathing in the scent of her warm brown pelt. "Go forward, dear. Sorrelwing is calling you." She explained lovingly, despite knowing Swiftkit couldn't hear her. She gave her a reassuring lick, telling he she wasn't in trouble, quite the opposite, in fact!

"You have reached the age of six moons and will soon begin your training. From now until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Swiftpaw. Your mentor will be Hawkflight. May she teach you well." Sorrelwing very quickly turned to Hawkflight and stared the warrior down, giving a quick nod towards the new apprentice, basically telling them to go meet. Maybe that will keep the deputy from having to interact too much longer.

Swiftpaw saw the deputies head motion to the warrior she-cat so swiftpaw padded towards and touched noses with them then headed back to her mother with a big smile.

Breezebranch grinned as the newly named Swiftpaw padded over to her. She licked her head, purring loudly. "Congradulations, my dear," she murmured. She glanced over at Hawkflight and gave her a meaningful look. Don't treat my daughter differently for being deaf.
