Flowerkit’s Apprentice Ceremony

Now, the clan was growing. They had gone a few moons without any kits, but a few new litters had brought new life. Another one of those kits, a beautiful she-cat, Wolfstorm’s daughter, would be joining many others in the apprentice den. He leapt onto the Wet Rock, letting out the call. “Let all cats old enough to swim gather below the Wet Rock for a clan meeting!” Wolfstorm watched the clan gathering, and soon, among the crowd he spotted Flowerkit. The tom smiled down towards her. He was especially fond of his kits, and took careful consideration into who would mentor them. He had an inkling of who would mentor her, however.

Waterpaw limped out of the apprentice den when he heard his father call. Waterpaw looked around and noticed flower kit and a bright smile appeared on his face. His sister would be joining them and he was ecstatic. He couldn’t look at his father in the eyes as he sat down, Waterpaw blamed himself for getting injured and not being able to become the warrior his dad wanted him to be. Even though Waterpaw could become a warrior he couldn’t do as much things as the others. He was stuck and he blamed himself wondering why he had to take lilypaw the long way and not even notice the dog.

Whitepaw sat down next to his siblings with a grin after hearing his father call for a clan meeting. He ready and excited to see his sister, Flowerkit, become an apprentice today. He was very proud of her and rather curious to find out who'll be mentoring her. He knows she'd been enthusiastically waiting for this day to come. It was her time to shine and he, with the rest of his family, was here to cheer her on.

He turned to Waterpaw about to speak when he noticed he was spaced out, a hint of guilt and sadness mixed with his normally cheery features. This bothered Whitepaw greatly. He knew why his brother was feeling this way but he just wishes the younger wouldn't go so hard on himself. Honestly, he was secretly somewhat proud of his brother bravery. He admits that it was scary seeing the youngest injured the way he was and then finding out that he wouldn't be the same afterward. Despite it all, this version of Waterpaw wasn't something he was used to. The Waterpaw he knew wouldn't just accept and wallow in misery and guilt. He was one to bounce back and not let life weigh him down. 'Cats change and it's normal. Nobody stays the same forever...' his mind told him. He pushed the voice away as he mentally sighed. He'll have to have a meaningful one-on-one chat with him some other time. Right now wasn't the time to feel gloomy. Flowerkit deserves a cheerful day full of celebration.

Violetbriar led her small calico daughter from the nursery. Both her charming, pale pelted sons had been made apprentices, and now, her daughter Flowerkit was up. Soon, her littlest, Dovekit, would join them. Waterpaw's injury had worried her exceedingly, guilt stabbing her every time she saw him limping. Surely a better mother and mentor wouldn't had let that happen.. Either way, she couldn't beat herself up about it. Today was a wonderful day. She could only wonder who Wolfstorm had chosen as their daughter's mentor. A part of her greatly wanted Willowshade to mentor Flowerkit or Dovekit-- or perhaps both.

Please not Minnowstream... She begged silently, although, Violetbriar was fairly certain her mate wouldn't assign their precious kits to her. Willowshade was an excellent mentor. After all, the capable she-cat had mentored both she and Wolfstorm. The pale cream tabby sat down, wrapping her tail over her paws, nudging Flowerkit forward gently.

Flowerkit's paws itched with excitement. She had been obsessively grooming her long, colorful coat all morning so that not a hair was out of place. She jumped as she heard her father call for the clan to gather. The young kit passed through the center of the clan, fluffy tail held high so that all could see her. Flowerkit stopped and looked up at Wolfstorm expectantly.

Wolfstorm spotted his kit, her beautiful fur all in place. He let out a quiet chuckle. It quite contrasts to his ceremony. He hadn’t been ready, his massive fur in an explosion around his body. Turning his attention back to his daughter, he got ready to continue. He had planned out her mentor, and he was pretty certain in his choice. ”Flowerkit, please step forward. You have reached the age of six moons and are ready to be apprenticed. From this day until you get your warrior name, you will be known as Flowerpaw. And your mentor will be Willowshade. I hope that she passes down all of her knowledge to you.” he mewed with a nod. His mentor, and his mate’s, would be perfect for his daughter! He leapt off of the rock, to congratulate his daughter.

Flowerkit stood still as a tree trunk as her father announced her new name and her mentor. Willowshade! She didn't really know the female, but had seen her parents talking the cat many times before. Her chest swelled with happiness as Wolfstorm leapt from rock. With the ceremony officially over, she bounced forward and rubbed against his chest.
