Claws Sheathed [closed]

Vetiverwing was growing much more comfortable with having her apprentice by her side. Going on patrols and experiencing life, it made the warrior feel much more reassured in her position and ability to pass on her knowledge. One major final step to Briarpaw's training was now to happen - battle training. The warrior had watched her apprentice grow into quite the adept hunter, and those fine skills would be ones she would take advantage of to teach Briarpaw how to fight. ShadowClan was a clan that prided themselves on their abilities, and Vetiverwing would make sure that her apprentice was one of them.

"Briarpaw, it's time for you to learn how to fight today."

Briarpaw had enjoyed hunting, but talking to other, older apprentices made her excited to fight. Obviously, she didn’t want to get into too many fights, but she wanted to be able to learn how to do it. Luckily, her mentor called out for her to come to train, and she sprung up with a grin. ”Sweet!” mewed the apprentice, waking up to Velviterwing, ready to start.

Nodding to her apprentice, Vetiverwing quickly went to a darker patch in the territory. This would be their main advantage, and she knew Briarpaw's were adapting to the dim lighting quite well. Turning towards her apprentice once they arrived, she gave a gentle purr and prideful nod. "Show me your best fighting stance. I know I haven't taught you anything. But how would you stand if just in front of you, there was a ThunderClan cat coming to take our territory?"

Briarpaw thought for a moment. Maybe it would be similar to the hunting stance? If it wa spark, something low and close to the ground, maybe, so she could slip into the shadows. Leaning backwards and bending her knees so she was just an inch from the ground, she looked up at Velviterwing curiously. The apprentice was sure it wasn’t quite perfect, but was she close? She hadn’t really seen any battles, although the elders had told her plenty of stories.
