Ferretpaw's Moonstone Journey

It seemed like just a sunrise ago that Ferretpaw and Flashpaw had been discussing what perhaps their full names would be. Now, the medicine cat apprentice's younger sister would be taking another pawstep closer to that goal. Flashpaw felt a jolt of worry as all of her siblings passed her by. She knew she were on a different path, but especially without a mentor now, she felt as though she were getting left behind at times.

Shaking the thoughts away like morning dew from her whiskers, the she-cat took the traveling herbs to her sister near the apprentice den. It wasn't long before they were on their way, and at mothermouth.

"It's very dark, stay close to me and don't branch off." Flashpaw warned, leading the way down the winding tunnel that was becoming second nature to her. When they arrived at the moonstone, she nodded. "Press your nose against it and let StarClan come to you."

Ferretpaw stood near the exit of the apprentice den, watching Flashpaw bring her herbs. Many of her siblings were growing up now, becoming warriors. The she-cat thought that her sister deserved to be a full medicine cat, and hoped she would be soon. The apprentice knew it must be hard to heal a clan even with a mentor, and Thunderclan only had a medicine cat apprentice.

She followed Flashpaw through the unknown, a place she had never been before. When they reached the stone, she watched it with amazement, then laid down to let her nose touch it. Awakening, for a moment Ferretpaw thought something had gone wrong, before realizing she was in an unfamiliar territory. She watched as a ghostly shape approached her, and she tried to make out who it was.

Making his way over to Ferretpaw, one of ThunderClan's many apprentices and one of his own granddaughters, a black and white tom approached, and it was none other than ThunderStar himself. He wished that he didn't have to be in StarClan to begin with, but fate had other ideas for him, and at least he was able to guide the clan's future generations.

Giving a dip of his head to the tabby pelted molly, a soft smile was held on his muzzle. "I am Thunderstar, the previous leader and founder of ThunderClan. I presume you are here for your moonstone journey?" he mewed softly.

Ferretpaw nodded. His pelt reminded her so much of Badgestorm’s...Poor Badgerstorm, lost in the badger fight. ”Are you lonely here? There can’t be too many cats yet, can there?” she asked, taking another step closer to observe her grandfather, and the territory with a stronger eye. She wanted to remember this.

It was a curious question, but one that he'd asked himself often. "Sometimes, yes, it does get a bit lonely," he mewed with a smile. "But enough about me, since you clearly know who I am," the bi-colored tom chuckled. "Do you know what it means to be a warrior?" Thunderstar asked, tilting his head every so slightly to the side.

Ferretpaw nodded. It could be lonely, to be separated from the real world. As he posed a question of his own, she thought for a moment. What did it mean to be a warrior? It meant going on patrols and battles, of course. Was there supposed to be more than that. [color:da6a=#ffcc00”]”Patrols and battles. Hunting and stuff?” she offered, a bit unsure.

Listening to Ferretpaw, Thunderstar let out a soft chuckle. "Well, you've almost got it," he purred. "To be a warrior is to uphold the warrior code, even at the cost of your life, and yes, to go on patrols and hunt," Thunderstar mewed, before continuing once more. "Ferretpaw, you have spirit, that is for sure. Stay loyal to your clan and true to yourself, and you'll make a fine warrior," he spoke with a firm nod. Having said what he came here to say, ThunderStar took a few steps away from the apprentice. "May StarClan light your path," the leader mewed before fading away, leaving only stardust as proof of his arrival.
