A New Role [Open]

"Useless...Useless..." Driftpaw mumbled to himself as he pulled another batch of herbs from where it had been stored, giving it a sniff before he sighed and dropped it into the pile of dried, useless herbs that he was gathering. He was a medicine cat now! Well, he was technically a medicine cat apprentice but it felt...Weird to refer to himself as that when he didn't have a mentor. He was just...ShadowClan's sole medicine cat. He had known that would be the case when he had accepted but it was still a tough herb to swallow. He had taken the few moonrises since his ceremony to work on getting the dusty medicine cat den into some semblance of...Workable. Rebuilding the nests that had fallen apart from time, cleaning out the dust and now, sorting through the herbs. He had already managed to gather some replacements but their stockpile was practically at zero. He sighed heavily, giving a shake of his head. He felt so unprepared, so overwhelmed but he knew - he hoped - that it would get better.

He just... He just needed a little more time to figure things out.

Mistythorn was in a foul mood. Well... more so than usual. The midnight black female had been out hunting when she'd leapt strainght into a briar patch, coming out with a thorn stuck in her paw pad. She limped back into camp and headed toward the medicine den, staring into the darkness. "Driftpaw! You in there?" Mistythorn snapped.

Driftpaw's ears perked at the sound of approaching pawsteps... Picking up something was wrong from the gait, before a voice - Mistythorn's - called out for him. "I-I'm here!" he called back, shoving the pile of dried herbs off to the side. He would take care of them later. There was a pang of worry through his chest as he pushed himself to his paws and headed toward the entrance of the medicine cat den - his den - to greet the warrior. "What d-do you need?" he questioned as he took in a deep breath, trying to remain focus and calm. Studying her, he knew something was up - she was favoring one side of another and one paw was being raised but he couldn't tell what the problem was. Had she twisted it? Gotten something stuck in it? He took a step back to give her room, motioning toward one of the nests he had managed to rebuild so far. "Oh! Come in - feel free to lay down in one of the nests."
