Rimekit's Apprentice Ceremony

The smooth, well-worn stone of the Tallrock was shimmering faintly, the chilly light of day reflecting upon the soft dusting of frost. Brindleface's fur caught softly on the tendrils of ice, a faintly evident rustling sound just barley noticeable above the breeze, as she pulled herself atop the ceremonial meeting place. Straightening up, the Deputy’s voice rang out with a sharp note of purpose as she called out the familiar summons, "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!"

Rimekit carried himself out of the nursery with barely-concealed excitement under the guise of pride. He sat down towards the front of the gathering crowd, attempting to look as composed as possible. Inside, though, he was bubbling with anxiety and exhilaration: the day of his apprenticeship had finally come. He was full of hope but also worried, praying to StarClan that he would be assigned a mentor who would train him as well as he deserved.

Neatly winding her tail around her paws, Brindleface swallowed down a soft snort of amusement as she caught sight of Rimekit’s slow and methodical approach. Kits, always in a hurry to grow up- until they realize what it’s actually like. Only when the last stragglers made their way to the loosely formed ring of cats did she finally raise her voice once more. ”Rimekit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to find your place among the Clan." She began, voice carrying a sharp and determined undercurrent, ”From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Rimepaw. Spiderspark shall be your mentor and I am confident that he'll pass down everything he has learned."

Leaping off of the looming stone, the Deputy was quick to congratulation the young Warrior and his new Apprentice.

When the sun had first risen, and Spiderspark had been forced to stumble out of his nest due to his own pangs of hunger, the call of Brindleface had been completely unexpected. He nearly continued on his journey for prey, but his movement ceased as a ceremony began. Within heartbeats, however, his expression was one of shock, and his eyes scanned the surrounding crowd for this mysterious kitten. Rimekit. What a strange name.

But Spiderspark - the mentor. It just flowed so naturally off the tongue. Initially, he had been in shock - but now he understood. There was no one else qualified enough to accept such a task. Rimepaw. Perhaps he should have been more vigilant with the names of the kittens around him. Who - or what - was Rimepaw? The Windclan warrior glanced around the crowd. Somewhere here there was a Rimepaw, his apprentice.

Rimepaw and Spiderspark - the soon to be dynamic duo; they would become the most talented pairing of mentor and apprentice in all of existence. Their collective futures were looking bright.
