Oddpaws Hunting Mission [CLOSED]

Oddpaw stalked, with her belly close to the ground making faint rustling noises as she moved. She kept her tail high in the air and stalked through the marsh. Listening for prey she stood silently, her ears twitching at any sound. She felt frustrated, not being able to find any prey as easy as the warriors.

She heard something rustle in the brush and prepared to pounce.

As Oddpaw was readying to pounce on a piece of prey, Scorchpaw was sniffing out a catch of his own. He could vaguely detect the scent of something hidden among the snow. He swiftly searched for the source before halting as the smell grew stronger. His gray eyes widened as he detected movement in the tree roots.

Oddpaw, not seeing Scorchpaw stared hungrily at the mouse that was obviously scratching at the tree roots. She launched herself at the mouse, her claws outstretched, she could already imagine the mouse in her mouth.

Scorchpaw jumped backwards as Oddpaw suddenly caught the mouse he was eyeing. "Woah!" he yelped, "I had my eyes on that one. Nice catch, though..." He shook the shock from his face before turning around and trying to scent something else.

Oddpaw's eyes glazed over in horror as behind Scorchpaw, her jump had disturbed a giant...

'Predator Dice' :

He thought he had scented a bird. Well... he wasn't exactly wrong. But, a huge owl suddenly swept from the trees and flashed its talons to the apprentice. Scorchpaw screeched to a halt, but he couldn't stop in time. The owl grabbed his pelt by the neck and back and dragged him backwards. He yelped and screamed at the sudden pain. He tried to claw at the owl, but his paws couldn't quite reach.

"NO!" Oddpaw yowled, launching herself at the owl, she wasn't exactly coordinated but she became fearsome when anything or anyone would attack her clan.

She launched with outstretched claws, ripping them down the owls breast. There she clung, biting as hard as she could, ripping at feathers and flesh until the owl let go of Scorchpaw. It fluttered its wings slightly in distress, using its mighty beak to try and pull Oddpaw off its' chest.

Scorchpaw took a moment to gather his senses and wear off the shock. His eyes widened in terror as he saw the owl start to bite Oddpaw to get her off. He srambled behind them and reared up in order to bite onto the owl's back. He then dragged his claws down the sides of its back, bringing feathers and bits of avian blood with them. After that, Scorchpaw tried to hook his claws onto its shoulders.

The owl started moving slower, it's crimson blood standing out against the snow.

It weakly managed to throw Oddpaw off, who immediately stood up again, her fur standing on end. She threw herself at the feet of the owl, biting at its legs trying to bring it to the ground. It's wings flapped at Oddpaw clipping her head and ears but she wouldn't let up angrily gnawing and scratching at her enemies legs.

"I think he's growing weaker!" She muffle-yelled up to Scorchpaw, with a mouth full of limb.

Scorchpaw released the owl's back as it started to slow down. He snarled at the bird as he drew a few pawsteps backward. The apprentice then jumped forwards and grappled the owl by the back of its neck. He used all of his weight to drag it backwards, clamping his jaws as hard as he could. The two now had the owl locked from its neck and legs. Blood started to well up in his mouth as the owl brokenly screeched.

As quickly as she could Oddpaw let go of the owls legs, before it had the chance to move she slashed her claws across it's neck, finishing it off.

Both apprentices stood there, covered in blood, from the owl and themselves. Oddpaw drew in sharp fast breaths.

"I think I'm ready to go back to camp now" She said jokingly "Good fighting Scorchpaw. Shall we drag it back to camp? The other apprentices won't believe it!"

Scorchpaw let go of the owl as it went limp. He recoiled as the pain grew sharper. "Ah..! Yeah... You wanna get the mouse and I'll try and drag the owl?" he suggested, suppressing his sharp breaths. He smiled towards Oddpaw, though it looked unintentionally menacing due to the blood on his mouth. "You fought just as well. I can only imagine the look on their faces when we get to camp!" he chuckled.

"Sure I'll get it" as Oddpaw went to pick up the mouse she saw her reflection in a small frozen puddle. "By StarClan! That owl pecked off the tip of my ear!" she yowled angrily. She eventually turned away from the puddle, muttering something about battle scars and how she'd 'kill every owl she saw'. She picked up the mouse, unintentionally crushing it slightly between her sharp teeth.

"If you can't get the owl by yourself I'll come back and help you" she said, her words muffled by mouse.

She slowly made her way back to the camp.

Scorchpaw looked at Oddpaw's ear with a lightly sympathetic expression. He wanted to say something, but his neck sent out a shockwave of pain, silencing him. Instead, he grabbed the owl by the back of its neck and started to drag it alongside his bloodied self. He could see in front of him through the side of his eyes, at least. "I sffoud beh fine," his voice was heavily muffled by the feathers and flesh of the owl. He then slowly dragged it towards the camp's general direction.
