Nothing is more important than family {Closed}

Light paw steps entered the camp as Nightstalker returned from border patrol, her stomach hollow after the journey to the Skyclan border and her paws weary. She had been tirelessly remarking the borders, the fear of the possibility of her Clanmates and family running into rogues and getting hurt hung at the forefront of her mind. Her tail twitched in thought as she padded to the fresh-kill pile, her heart plummeting as she saw its meager offerings. With a sigh she picked up the smallest piece, 'Let the queens or apprentices have something bigger' she thought as she padded to the warmest spot she could find in the camp. The snow was thin near the roots of a tree and she settled down, trying to catch some rays of sun to warm her pelt. She turned her ember eyes out to the camp as she took a few small bites of her mouse, watching her clan mill about her peacefully. The apprentices den seemed to be bursting at the seams and soon that would be the warriors den. She had half a mind to just share a nest with Sandbreeze at this point as there won't be enough room for them to have individual nests. With a shake of her head she glanced around the camp again, catching sight of her younger kin Badgerpaw and waving her tail in greeting to him.

Badgerpaw was just walking around looking for something to do since his mentor, Sandbreeze, was busy at the moment. When he saw his older sister motion a greeting to him he decided to just go over. Badger padded over to her and sat down in the snow. “Hey nightstalker, how you been?” he asked never really spending any time with his sister.

Nightstalker gave a small smile, a gesture that was really only reserved for her kin and those close to her. Her usual bitterness seemed to melt away as her younger sibling settled in beside her and she looked him over briefly. She remembered when he was younger and watching him while her mother would go on strolls with their father. It had been ages since she had actually taken the chance to sit down and talk with him now that he was older, and she could see his training was paying off. A swell of pride blossomed in her chest and she hoped their father would see and recognize was a wonderful warrior he would become some day. "Other than working my tail off on border patrols, I've been good." She mewed as she swallowed the last few bites of her mouse and gave her whiskers a swipe with her tongue. "How has training been going?" She asked with a cock of her head. His mentor was Sandbreeze, and if she heard he was slacking on his mentor duties she was eager to tease him about it. Not that she had much room to talk, she feared she was letting Oakpaw down with her constant worry about what had been reviled at the Gathering.

Badgerpaw sighed. “I haven’t been getting my training from him as much but dad and mom have been helping me out along with Oakpaw.” he said with a gleam in his eyes as he mentioned Oakpaw. He knew they have already confessed for each other but it still seems like Oakpaw doesn’t truly know how much he likes her.

Nightstalker gave an amused snort at the gleam in her brother's eyes at the mention of her own apprentice and the budding romance she had witnessed between them from a far. The older she-cat slightly wished she had taken the time to notice someone when she was an apprentice, maybe she would have turned out different and the dark shadow she harbored in her heart for her father would be something different entirely. At the mention of both their parents stepping in to help her younger sibling sent a bitter taste in her mouth and she wondered bitterly why her father never offered to step in and help her, but seemed to be helping all her other siblings. "Well, I'll be sure to get on Sandbreeze's tail about the training," she mewed, trying to keep her voice light. She cleared her throat as she cocked her head and gave her brother a sidelong glance. "You and Oakpaw seem to be pretty close, huh?" a light tone of teasing entered her voice as her oft smile returned to her feature.

Badgerpaw blushed as his older sister mentioned Oakpaw. “Y-yes.” he said cursing himself as he stuttered.
