Wolfkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Perhaps this Leafbare would be slightly kinder than the ones before. Lichenstar rose from her lounging spot in a patch of weak sunshine, making her way to the branch well-scarred by Riverstar's claws. Though the thought of her mother's traces being destroyed weighed on her heart, she knew that they'd always be there, if only buried beneath her own. She sat upon the branch, gaze flickering between her Clanmates. Where was that kit... aha! With her eyes set on Wolfkit, she raised her voice for all the camp to hear. He'd been waiting for this.

"All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the Willow Branch for a clan meeting!"

Violetpaw padded out of the apprentices den, eyes shining. Today was Wolfkit's turn! Who would his mentor be? When was Cherrykit gonna become an apprentice? "Wolfkit, Wolfkit! Hurry up, you slow slug! Ivyfeather will be Ivystar by the time you get out here, you slowpoke!" She teased, pale green eyes shining.

Wolfkit smiled at Violetpaw’s teasing as he hurried out. It was finally his apprentice ceremony. He smiled, looking up at his leader. He couldn’t believe that it was really happening. He sat down, his fluffy grey pelt disheveled from his rush to get out to the ceremony.

It was a joy to see young cats so excited to see the world, and it appeared Wolfkit was no different. His name certainly fit at the moment, seeing his fur unkept and wild. He had a lot of energy to spend as well. He needed someone who would let him use it, and perhaps it wouldn't hurt to share a mentor with someone he already appeared to be friends with.

"Wolfkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day forth, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Wolfpaw. Your mentor will be Willowshade. She is intelligent and brave, and I know she will pass on all she knows onto you."

Wolfpaw smiled, receiving his new name. As he realized who is mentor was, he grinned. Violetpaw is training with me! He couldn’t believe his luck! He would be training with his friend. He ran over to the she-cat and touched noses with her.

Violetpaw was ecstatic. When thinking of who Wolfpaw's mentor would be, Willowshade, her mentor, didn't even cross her mind! "Can you believe it? We have the same mentor! That means we can do everything together!" She squealed. She touches noses with the newly named Wolfpaw, "Don't forget to go greet your new mentor, dummy!" She teased, tail flicking in the direction of Willowshade.

Wolfpaw grinned. ”This is so cool!” She ran over and touched noses with his mentor.
