Despite how much she didn't want to be out with not one, but two medicine cats, Fennelpaw found herself doing exactly that. Originally, she thought they'd be looking for herbs or berries, or whatever else those plant-lovers needed on this particular day, but it turned out they'd be hunting actual prey instead. She thought it was rather odd for medicine cats to be doing that- after all, killing was the opposite of what they were meant to do- but whatever, it was none of her business anyway. Her tail thumped the ground as she waited impatiently by the exit to camp, hoping to StarClan that Violetbriar would show up soon, at the very least.

Adderpaw huffed as she hurried out of the medicine den, eyes set on Fennelpaw across camp from her. She had never been particularly fond of the she-cat, and somehow, Softcloud and herself had gotten paired up with the apprentice and mentor duo. Excellent. She didn't even know what the point of this patrol was- Adderpaw already knew how to hunt and fight from her time training as a warrior, so why did she need to completely relearn it... Especially now that she was nearly a fully trained medicine cat? With a sigh, the fluffy black she-cat quickly padded over to Fennelpaw's side, offering nothing more than a curt nod as the two of them waited for their mentors to join them.

Softcloud yawned and stretched, flashing her apprentice a grin, "Good morning, Adderpaw." The molly greeted cheerily. Over the moons, Softcloud had hoped that Adderpaw grew to like her at least half as much as Softcloud herself had grown to like Adderpaw. Today was a bit different than usual, they weren't doing the typical training. Today, they were going to need Violetbriar and Fennelpaw's help.

Even though Softcloud had been in RiverClan long enough to learn to fish and enjoy the taste of fish, she'd asked her friend to accompany them, just to assist should something go wrong. "Even though we're fishing, if you see some watermint or any other herb, don't hesitate to grab it."

Turning, she began to pad over to Fennelpaw and Violetbriar, but she stopped, turning her head over her shoulder, "Oh, and Adderpaw, it won't hurt to refresh your fighting, all that herb sorting will soften you up! After all, Crakepaw can't be better at fighting than us."

"Fennelpaw! Are you ready to go? Here come Softcloud and Adderpaw!" Violetbriar grinned, gently bumping her apprentice's shoulder. Violetbriar had regretted all her shortcomings when it came to her apprentices.

"Let's make today wonderful, and don't let those Medicine Cats show us up!" the pretty cream she-cat teased, flicking her tail playfully as she lead the quartet down to the river, a drop of anxiety worming into her throat as she remembered two different bad encounters here.

Fennelpaw resisted the urge to hiss and push Violetbriar away from her when she brushed up against her shoulder, immediately recoiling from the touch. She truly resented being in this position. Out of all the warriors she could have been assigned to as an apprentice... Violetbriar, the bubbly and happy-go-lucky she-cat was who she was stuck with. Hooray. "Can we just go now?" Part of her wanted to beg. The sooner they got back to camp and away from the odd cats that stunk of herbs and berries, the better.

Adderpaw smiled gently when Softcloud approached, appreciating the reprieve from Fennelpaw that her presence offered. "Good morning, Softcloud." The fluffy she-cat turned to leave camp, giving the others a moment to come together as a group before heading out. "Will do. And Crakepaw will never be better. He's a cripple, after all," Once the group of four had gotten to the river, Adderpaw realized that it had been a while since she'd fished. Hopefully, it would come back to her, like some sort of muscle memory. She looked at the others for a moment before diving in headfirst, metaphorically speaking. With a quick dip of her paw, she was able to snag a shiny-scaled fish from beneath the water's surface. She ended it quickly with a quick nip, and gently placed the fish at her paws.
