In the clouds (closed for Willowpaw)

Hailstorm looked behind him to see if his new apprentice was following. After walking for, Hailstorm stopped and turned around towards Willowpaw. "Ok so what do you want to do first?" He said, his voice optimistic.

Willowpaw looked around in awe. They had never left camp before, their mother expressly forbade it. The nursery had been comfy anyway, so they never really wanted to leave. But they couldn't help but gaze at the trees and animals around them, imagining what it would be like to climb those trees. They entirely forgot they were here for training until Hailstorm spoke. "Uhhh, can we climb the trees? They look super tall."

Hailstorm nodded. "Sure!" The white tom padded towards a tree and put his paw on it. "When climbing trees make sure to have your claws unsheathed at all times so you can get a good hold. Like this." His claws then unsheathed, as the gripped onto the tough bark of the tree. Hailstorm slowly climbed up it before down towards Willowpaw and leaping off. "Wanna try it?" He asked.

Willowpaw stared up, mouth wide open. Woah. They didn't even know cats could climb that high. They held up their paw, unsheathing and sheathing their claws a couple of times before nervously approaching the tree. "Um, like this?" They hooked their claws into the hard bark, gingerly pulling themselves up paw by paw. Their legs ached after only a few seconds; a massive body and untrained muscles was not a good combination. After a while, they stopped to pant and looked down. Bad move. "Oh. Hailstorm? I- I don't know how to get down from here."

Hailstorm looked up as Willowpaw looked down on him. "Well you can jump down since us Skyclan cats had powerful legs, but the more safer option would be to climb down like the way you came up." Hailstorm called up to them, hoping that he had given the right advice.

Whimpering a little at the prospect, Willowpaw closed their eyes and took a deep breath. Back the way they came down. Okay. Climbing this tree was a lot scarier than it looked when their mentor did it. They unhooked their left paw from the bark and placed it below the right one. Gaining a little confidence boost from the minor success, they did the same with their right paw... Only to lose their balance and come crashing to the ground. Landing just barely on their feet, they yelped and looked up at Hailstorm. "Owww... Sorry, I guess 'm not so good at climbing."

Hailstorm gently put his tail on Willowpaw's shoulder. "Ah don't worry. Climbing a tree takes pratice." He said to them, a small reasurring smile on his face. "If ya want we could try something else."
