A little prank (open)

The sun set softly as a small black kit with mismatched eyes peered out of the nursery. A cheeky smile came to his maw, as he wiggled out of the nursery and padded around camp, looking for something. His eyes twinkled with excitement, as he picked it up. He grabbed and lifted it up, a small bug in his jaws. Bugs were rare this time of year but he had managed to find one. The little turned back towards the nursery, his smirk growing wider. He padded back to the nursery, ready to set his trap.

His eyes scanned around, thinking of where to put it, when a mossball got his eye. If the bug was in the mossball, it would certainly scare a kit trying to play with it if it slipped out. Perfect. He thought. The kit padded up to the mossball and started clawing at it until a small opening opened up. He slipped the bug inside before closing it just enough so it wouldn't look weird. He put the mossball near the entrance of the nursery, before padding back to his mother and sister, curling up besides them.

And as he laid besides them, Silkkit watched as his plan was in motion.

Splashkit was scared in the corner of the nursery as she watched another kit put a bug in a mossball. Instead of being scared Splashkit decided to go see what that kit was doing. She padded up to him with a smile. "why did you put a bug in the ball?" she asked her little tail shaking.

Silkkit raised his head as he noticed one of the other kits padding up to him. Splooshkit was it? He didn't know really. He sat up and leaned into her ear to tell her of her plan. "Ok don't tell anyone but I'm gonna prank one of our denmates." He whispered mischeviouly, letting out a cheeky little chuckle.

Splashkit smiled at him but it held confusion. "Why would you do that? Don't you wanna make friends, not enemies?" she asked. "I'm Splashkit by the way, nice to meet you...Ummmm...." she mewed not actually knowing his name.

"Silkkit. And I'm doing it because its fun! Plus no one will know its me." Silkkit whispered, twitching his white tipped tail. "You aren't planning to anyone, are you?" He hoped that Splashkit wouldn't try blowing his cover. If she did, well, Silkkit would have a new target for pranking to say the least.

"I have no one to tell." she mewed at him with a small smile. "How do pranks work? I don't understand why you would want to be mean to others." she mewed. She didn't really socialize with others so had no clue how most things worked.

Silkkit's smug smile grew when Splashkit confirmed she wouldn't tell anyone. "Well pranks are just harmless fun! Harmless like putting a flea in someone's nest or scaring them with a spider or surprising them!" Silkkit explained, his voice growing louder before he caught himself and returned back to a soft whisper. "Plus when ya pull a prank you don't have to tell anyone. Its like an exercise for keeping secrets."

Splashkit looked at him confused. "why would you want to keep secrets!?" She mewed. She knew she didn't know much but one thing she did know was being loyal to the clan. If you have secrets then you're not being loyal.

Wow she likes asking a lot of questions. Silkkit noted silently, as his ear flicked at the sound of deputy putting together patrols. Good, they haven't been noticed yet, despite how noisy Splashkit was becoming. "There are somethings you can't tell. Like when your planning something for a clanmate." Silkkit explained, before urgently hissing, "Now quiet down!"

Splashkit immediately shut her mouth. She didn't know if silkkit was mad at her but she wasnt going to lose her friend. Blazekit was also her friend but they never really hung out much. Maybe if Splashkit could get on his good side, they could play more. She laid next to silkkit and waited.

Enter Beetlekit stage left.

Beetlekit poked her head out of the nursery den, a late camp excursion causing the usual early riser to sleep in just a bit longer than usual. Stretching out as she stepped into the fresh air, she gave herself a good shake before looking around her surroundings. Her eyes caught on a moss ball, her eyes turning to slits as she crouched at it. Ears tucking against her head, she stalked it for a short moment before pouncing on it swiftly, batting it between her paws she sent a couple of moss scraps flying. Flinging it a ways away the bug tumbled out, and sadly for her spectators, there was no visible response from her.

Beetlekit straightened up and padded up to the bug in a quick few strides, grabbed the bug in her jaws and crunched the bug popping... sort of... in her mouth. Swallowing and licking her maw she quickly lost interest in the game of moss ball and soon noticed her sister and Silkkit next to each other. Watching her. Deciding she did not like that at all, she walked over, "Whatch'll lookin' at?" She asked, licking bug bits out of teeth.

Silkkit's eyes widened when he saw another one of his denmates, (Beetkit was it?) going up to the mossball. Yes, the perfect victim. His smile grew toothier as she played with it. Though to his dismay, the reaction he was hoping would come didn't. His cheeky smile fell and his ears drooped, his hopes of his prank going well, crushed. Like the little bug between Beetlekit's jaws.

His drooping face soon straightned up when Beetlekit walked over. "Oh well me and Splashkit here were just talking when we noticed a bug come out of the mossball." He quickly lied. "Good thing ya killed it!"

Splashkit watched her sister wondering what would happen, but eating the bug shocked her also. "ya sis, how does bug even taste?" she asked curiously. Splashkit never thought of eating a bug before.
