Bittersweet {OPEN}

The outside world was big, big, and.... Muddy!?

The little she-kit wrinkled her nose as a neat white paw became covered in nasty, icky, gross mud! Ugh. Today was meant to be just perfect! How could Sweetkit possibly meet Magpiewing, Blackclaw, Firestar, or any other important cat looking like this?! With a hiss of frustration, she bent to lick the mud from her paws, but recoiled instantly at the fowl taste. "Oh, yuck!" She growled, rather annoyed. How in Stars' name could she possibly avoid all this mud? It was everywhere! Sniffing, she turned her nose up and closed her eyes, holding her tail high and standing on her tiptoes as to avoid as much mud as possible, she walked over to a tree stump, in which she eagerly wiped her paws among the side of it, before leaping up and daintily sitting on it, brushing away any dirt with her plumy tail.

"I suppose this will do," she muttered to herself, thoughtful. "My claws are still muddy though. I guess I'll have to put up with the revolting, disgusting, terrible taste." She huffed, licking the remaining mud and grit from her paws, ears folded down, blue eyes narrowed, nose wrinkled. Her gray and white fluffy kit fur fluffed up, protecting her from any chills.

Briarkit watched her sister groom her fur. The red kit was also muddy, but her fur wasn’t white like her sister’s. She trotted up to Sweetkit. ”Hi Sweetkit! How are you?” she asked, her large eyes meeting the other kit’s. She sat down, getting a little more mud onto her pelt, but it was worth the icky-ness to be with her sister.

At the sound of her name, the elegant she-kit turned to face her sister... With her tail absolutely drenched in mud. "Briarkit! What in Stars' name are you doing down there? Your poor tail hardly looks cream anymore! Get up here, you can wipe your tail on the bark of the tree-stump." She invited, moving over to make way for her sister, one of the three cats she adored.

Briarkit smiled. She didn’t care as much about her appearance, but her sister did. ”Ok!” she said, wiping her tail on the stump. She giggled a little bit.

Sweetkit purred happily, thankful that her sister was no longer on the icky ground. Briarkit was much too good to be in the mud! "So what do you want to do? I'm kinda bored, but not sure what to do..." She asked, thoughtful, as she tilted her head to the side, staring at her sister with huge blue eyes.

Briarkit nodded. ”We could play some sort of game? What do you think?” she asked, returning the gaze at Sweetkit. She didn’t understand why some of their clan mates were so annoyed with her sister. She was so fun and, well, sweet! At least that’s what Briarkit thought.

Sweetkit swished her tail at the idea of a game, eyes gleaming with an intense mischief. "A game you say? Let's play Clan! I'll be leader and you can be my number one deputy. We'll make ShadowClan the most feared Clan of all! No Clan will try to take our territory! Right, Briarkit- er, Briar.... Briarglow!" Sweetstar declared, giving Briarglow her very own warrior name. After all, a deputy had to have a cool name! Sweet'star' knew that her Clanmates didn't really like her, but it was their fault they were annoying! Coalspark and Briarkit weren't like that. They were wonderful and so very much fun to be around.

Blackclaw padded into camp to see some kits playing clan. “H-H-hello..C-Can..I-I P-Pl-Play?” He asked once he put his herbs away and padded up to them.

Briarkit nodded, and before suggesting that she would be leader, Sweetkit decided she was Sweetstar. Oh well, deputy was fun. She nodded, standing up with a smile. ”Alright, Sweetstar, what do you need me to do?” asked the kit. Briarglow was a cool name, and was glad that it was hers, at least in the game. Soon the medium cat approached. She looked towards Sweetkit, waiting for her verdict.

Suddenly realizing it was up to her if the black tom joined in the game, she looked over at 'Briarglow'. "Umm, as leader of MegaShadowClan, I hereby decree you may join, if we have no objections. Briarglow, uh, should he be a medicine cat, an apprentice, or a warrior?" She turned to her sister, stifling a giggle as she addressed her by her 'name'.

Briarkit nodded, and stopped to think. ”Well, Sweetstar, I think he should decide.” She turned to Blackclaw expectantly, giggling a little bit. It was so serious that it was funny!

The med smiled at the kits and thought for a second. “H-Ho-How..A-Ab-About..I-I..S-St-Stay..Me-Med.” He stuttered out with a smile. He was used to being medicine cat so wouldn’t change it for the world.

Sweetstar nodded, with as much dignity as a kit could. "Very well, you will be our medicine cat, Blackclaw. Hmmm... We need some warriors, Briarglow." She mewed, turning to her sister at the last sentence, wondering if she had any ideas for who could fill their ranks.

Briarkit nodded, looking around for someone. Soon, her eyes locked on a cat. ”Hey! You! Wanna join us?” she asked. She hoped they would say yes. They would need some warriors.

Darkkit had been basking in the moonlight, her soft kit-fuzz a mess as she hadn't bothered to groom it down. Her white paws were covered in mud, but she didn't bother to clean them and simply lay day dreaming- until Briarkit's voice reached her ears. She jumped a bit, not really knowing what the other kit was asking of her. "O-Oh... I guess?" She muttered in a low voice, rising to her paws. "What should I do?"

Sweetstar grinned as she spotted the same cat her sister had! Er- uhhhh Inkkit...? No, that didn't sound right. Dapplekit, Duskkit, Dawnkit? No, no, those weren't right either... Deerkit, Dustkit, Doekit? Oh, oh, it was Darkkit! Thank stars' she'd remembered it as a leader it was important to remember the names of her loyal warriors. "Wonderfully spotted, Briarglow!" She praised, purring, before beckoning Darkkit over with her tail.

"I am Sweetstar, leader of MegaShadowClan, and this is my wonderful deputy, Briarglow. That's our medicine cat, Blackclaw. If you'll join us, I'll give you a warrior name. If there are no objections, I hereby welcome you as a member of MegaShadowClan." Sweetstar announced, mustering all the dignity and regalness a kit could. "By the powers vested in me by our Warrior ancestors, I shall give you a name worthy of a warrior. Darkki- er- uh, Darkpaw, do you promise to show undying loyalty to MegaShadowClan, no matter the circumstances, to fight tooth and claw to defend your Clanmates and to hold the Code above all?" She asked, using words she remembered from Firestar's ceremonies, changing them just a bit to fit her liking. She looked over to her red-pelted sister to see if she agreed with the words, and then to 'her' medicine cat.

Briarglow smiled. This was really fun! And Sweetstar knew how to say everything just like a real leader! Maybe her sister would be a leader someday. She was excited that another warrior would be adding to the ranks of MegaShadowclan. She nodded as her sister looked over to her, and she too looked to Blackclaw.

Blackclaw didn’t mind the kits looking at him but it did make his stutter worse. “G-Go-Goo-Good..W-Wo-Wor-Word-Words...S-Sw-Swe-Swee-Sweet..S-St-Sta-Star..” He mewed his stuttering even hard to understand than usual as he usually only had cats staring at him when he was healing a cat or coming back from a herb patrol.

When Sweetkit beckoned her over, Darkkit slowly made her way over, head hanging low between her shoulders. She had never been one for kit's games, and much preferred to sit alone with her thoughts. Nonetheless, she sat down next to Sweet...star? and listened to her words, a bit confused when she called her Darkpaw. Surely she hadn't missed her own apprentice ceremony... Did she? And what exactly was a... A MegaShadowClan? Nodding her head apprehensively, she uttered, "Uh... Yes?"

Thrilled that Darkpaw was going along with the game, she purred, stepping forward. "Very well. By the powers vested in me by... By our warrior ancestors, I hereby give you your warrior name. From now on you'll be known as..." She paused, thinking of a name. Darkpelt... Darkfur... No those didn't match her pelt... Darkstone? Darkflight? Darkbright? Those were interesting, but not quite right... Darkbird? No, no, that was silly, she was clearly a cat! Darktail, Darkclaw, Darkfoot, and Darknose were too generic... Darkbriar wasn't right, neither was Darkdawn.... Darkdream was spooky. Darkmoon was... Well, weird, the moon is bright. Darkshine was okay... Darkheart sounded mean... Dark.... Dark... Darkpool? Darknight? Darklion? Darkwater? None of those really sounded right... Oh! Oh! Darkflower!

"You'll be known Darkflower. MegaShadowClan honors your, uh... perseverance and, uhm, determination. We hereby welcome you as a full member of MegaShadowClan." Eyes gleaming, she grinned at her sister, Briarglow, starting the formal chant of warriors. "Darkflower! Darkflower!"

Briarglow giggled, and joined in with the chant, noting the confused Darkflower. ”Darkflower! Darkflower!” she changed with her sister, her red pelt moving a bit with the wind.

Blackclaw didn’t feel like being in the Chant as he was as confused as darkkit.

Gazing around with her maw slightly parted in confusion, Darkkit wondered what the appeal in this... game was. She didn't feel the satisfaction that she hoped she would when she truly became a warrior... She didn't even know what warriors did, other than hunt and fight other Clans. "... What am I supposed to do now?" She asked, her tail tip twitching nervously.

Silence struck the four of them as they stood around awkwardly. Darkkit asked an important question, one that Briarkit was wondering herself. ”Um....I don’t know. What do warriors even do?” she asked. She was more interested in games and her family than watching warriors, but one of them had too know. Even if none of them were warriors or even apprentices!

Now that was a good question. "Uhm.." She blinked, tilting her head. What did Warriors do?? "They... Oh! Coalspark is a warrior, she has an apprentice! Warrior train apprentices!" Sweetstar announced then blinking. "Hmm, we don't have any apprentices... Uh, didn't Coalspark say somethin' about pat...patrols? Yeah, patrols! Uh, Briarglow, Darkflower, let's go patrol! Oh, uh, Blackclaw... Healing, that's what you do.. Uh.. Oh, plants! What do you call them? Herbs, that's right.. Well, if Briarglow agrees, I say we do a border patrol around camp, and we can escort Blackclaw around, so he can collect his.. Uh, herbs."

After a moment's pause, she added, "After all, Medicine cats don't fight."
