It was not long after her ceremony where night had just fallen past the trees that Beetlepaw had snuck past that night's guard and out into the territory, while not the stealthiest she was ever grateful that tonight's surveillance was lax. Beetlepaw spared a thought for her mother, still stuck in the nursery with her brother, Crinklekit, while her two daughters had left the den. Ducking under ferns and jumping over fallen logs she pushed forwards, giving her a moment to think. Toadspeckle did care for her and her siblings and she did return the sentiment... or she thought she did, but when her mother always seemed to have a tight expression and wistful glances and mournful sighs. It was hard to not see the signs, especially as she grew older, though she was still young the expressions her mother had been familiar in more ways than one.


A rank stench broke the fresh apprentice out of her thoughts, lifting her head she gave her surroundings a look, bright flashes of lights stretched far apart from each other and a low rumble seemed to follow the coming and goings of those lights. Ducking her head Beetlepaw crouched and crept forwards towards the questionable phenomenon, slow and steady as she made her way over. Pushing her head past some ferns she looked to see.... oh it was the thunderpath, she was told about it by her mother and warriors a-like, that no cat should go near it for how dangerous it was. A monster ran by and she flinched back but didn't retract back into the safety of the ferns, and that is what was making the thunderpath so dangerous. Breathing out heavily she was about to turn back and explore her territory only to see another pair of glowing yellow eyes, Beetlepaw's blood immediately seemed to thrum alive as she stared back at the figure slowly coming into view across the path.

Beetlepaws claws unsheathed and her eyes turned to slit, her jaw clenched and her pelt twitched excitement pulsing through her heart. A flash of lights passed in front of her and the path fell still, this is when she launched herself across. Coiling just as the path edge was about to meet her paws she launched herself at the enemy's face, her teeth fastening around the skin between her opponents eyes and her claws fastening around the back of their head holding herself there best she could. She'll show them not to mess with Shadowclan!

Having been on his routine evening patrol, Lightningstar found himself at the Thunderpath, which meant he was almost done and could return back to camp soon, thank StarClan. He wasn't one to complain, but today felt especially long for whatever reason and he was more than ready to get back and sit down. Watching as some monsters raced by, a strange scent somehow managed to reach him over the stench of the Thunderpath. It smelt almost like SkyClan...

Before he was able to investigate any further, a monster roared by and out of nowhere, something was flung at him. Letting out a huff of surprise, the large leader stumbled backwards a couple steps, the side of his head stinging and the bridge of his nose on fire from whatever had attacked him. Quickly lifting his front paws off the ground, he used them to pry the thing off his head, his claws unsheathed and digging into the sides of whatever or whoever dared to battle him. Once the thing was off, he tossed from his paws and gave his head a shake. Not wasting any time, the big, burley leader looked to see what it was and low and behold, it was an apprentice, which explained where the prominent SkyClan scent came from.

Silverstar and him had their clans in an alliance, so why in Silverpelt's name would an apprentice attack him? Their hostility was certainly out of the blue and Lightningstar wouldn't believe for a second that it was Silverstar's doing, seeing as though they were good friends and had no reason to battle, unless he didn't know of something...

"You're bold, attacking a leader," Lightningstar spoke simply, his voice deep and stoic as he put himself into a stance more suitable for battle. He wasn't big on fighting mere apprentices, seeing as though they were still going through their training, but if the apprentice wanted a fight... a fight they would most certainly get.

Landing roughly Beetlepaw gave a big 'oomph!' as she struggled briefly to recover herself. Licking her maw to remove the blood from her teeth. Feeling triumphant that she drew blood, she was not discouraged in her onslaught of the Thunderclan leader. "You're a leader?!" She mewed, adding shock to her voice as if she was actually afraid or spooked by that information. Her claws dug into the dirt before she tilted her head down, "I did think you looked kinda big for a kittypet!" She jeered, using her small size and dark fur to her advantage as she whipped around and launched herself at his side, scratching and biting up a storm.

Listening but not saying anything as the apprentice attempted to taunt him, Lightningstar took her attack; her smaller paws getting entangled in his thick, multicolored pelt, but still managing to reach his skin. Gritting his teeth, his swung his front half around and swatted her off his side with a large paw. Extending his paws, he swung again with his sharp claws extended. Catching her pelt, he knew it had to hurt, but even so, he commended her for her spirit. In a way, it reminded him of himself back in the day and he couldn't help but respect that.

Beetlepaw stumbled as she landed from the Thunderclan leaders strong swipe, her mouth agape as she panted, her legs a little shaky but still able to pull some punches but she wasn't exactly ready for the toms second strike. Beetlepaw shrieked as claws raked her shoulder, blood immediately welling at the wounds. Beetlepaw stepped back, her teeth gritting as she glowered at Lightningstar, weighing her next move. Beetlepaw lurched forwards, her shoulder making her falter a bit in her running gait as she launched herself onto the back of the toms head, fastening her teeth into one of his large ears, her claws scratching at any part of his eyes she could reach.

Unable to muffle the obvious pain that her tiny, sharp apprentice claws brought, Lightningstar let out a hiss of anger as her claws scratched around his eyes. Shaking her off his pelt, she was like a leech in the heat of a summer pond and while he found himself annoyed, his still couldn't shake the fact that he was impressed by her drive and will to fight, whatever her reason for violence was. Lunging forward, he smacked a large paw at her side, which sent her tumbling to the ground. Jumping forward, he slashed a paw at her side, his sharp claws raking across her brown pelt.

Beetlepaw yowled as she was battered by the Thunderclan leader, just as she had gotten her paws under her she was sent tumbling from a slash to the side. Huffing and puffing Beetlepaw staggered to her paws, her jaw clenched and teeth bared as she glared up at the massive tom. She so badly wanted to open up a river of blood in his throat, to send his innards scattered across the forest floor, but she ceased the temptation as if she could do anything at this given moment. Here she was, scratched to Starclan and back, and her opponent with minor wounds that would shut and mend by the time the sun came. Frustration built in her throat, her eyes never leaving the Thunderclan leader, she had no choice but to try to run, she wasn't winning this fight and with the wounds she currently had. She was violent, not stupid. So with that, she turned her tail for the thunderpath,

Before long, it became clear that the young cat’s strength had begun to waver. Blood began to clot in her pelt and he knew the damage that he’d done must’ve stung in more places than one. Of course, he had to admit that she’d done a good amount of damage to him, especially on his face, but with Applestem’s wisdom in healing, he knew that his wounds would heal fairly quickly.

Breathing heavily, the large leader gave his pelt a shake and in a literal blink of an eye, the apprentice had begun to run off. She was fleeing? It took him a moment to process what was happening but with a shake of his head, he made up his mind on what to do. There was no way that she was going to get away from something she had started, not that easily at least.

Bounding off after her, he picked up the pace and in a few moments he was easily able to catch up to her. ”Not so fast,” he mewed calmly, his expression blank as he skidded to a halt in front of her. Raising a paw, he brought down across her side, raking her pelt with sharp claws. ”There’s no running off like a coward during a battle you started,” the ThunderClanner pointed out, his breathing heavy as he caught his breath.

Beetlepaw screeched with pain and fury as his claws raked her side again, her yellow eyes turned to slits as she fell. She bared her teeth, frothing at the mouth in her anger and pain. "There is wisdom in fighting as there is fleeing," She snapped, trying her best to defend her honour, while it was wise of her to try to escape, it was still shameful. Beetlepaw looked towards the thunder path, just mere moments away, she could make it into her territory if she was lucky. She looked back at him as he glared down at her, she looked down at the bloodied dirt at her side, then back again. In a flash with her uninjured shoulder, she swiped it up into his eyes and nose, blinding him for however long. Beetlepaw took her chance and hauled herself up to shaking legs and sped across the path, narrowly escaping monsters, but acting as her shield, so if he decided to try to follow her he would be blocked. Hopefully.
