The Breeze in the Trees {OPEN!}

Breezebranch maneuvered easily from tree to tree as she stalked a squirrel. Its bushy red fur was a stark contrast to the browns of the trees. Reaching the tree of said squirrel, she slowly crept on a branch a couple limbs higher than it, the little creature completely unaware of her. The squirrel paused as it heard a small creak, and Breezebranch cursed under her breath. Steadying herself using her long tail, she jumped, swiftly killing the squirrel. A nightingale let out an alarm cry, but the orange tortoiseshell didn't care. Picking up her squirrel by it's scruff, she gracefully leaped off the branch, onto the cold and hard ground.

Breezebranch's sharp forest eyes examined the squirrel. While meager, it was a nice offering for the fresh-kill pile. "Thank you, StarClan.." She whispered, casting her gaze up. SkyClan was living, and that was all that mattered.

Perhaps he should not have been out alone without his mentor. The thought flitted through the young tom's mind for only a moment before he continued with his jaunt onto the territory. Mistedsong would understand if he came back with something. Thistlepaw wanted to learn every bit of the territory. Even as a medicine cat, this earth beneath his paws was a part of him now, as much as it was the next Skyclan cat. His green eyes were slits as they looked up into the treetops. He had yet to learn much about what medicinal things could be found among the branches. Before the tom looked away, he caught a flash of fur, various hues of color throughout. It landed on the ground right before him and Thistlepaw quickly picked out the pelt of one of this clanmates. Padding over, Thistlepaw regarded her still from a fair distance as he meowed, "That's a nice catch you got there. Must be a talented hunter to pick up something like that. You'll have to teach me your secret. I'm out here hunting herbs. That's all us medicine cats eat, you know?" The tone was mild and dry, masking his dull attempts at humor. Even if Breezebranch didn't appreciate it, he found himself amused by his own words with a twitch of his whiskers.
