Galekit’s Apprentice Ceremony

With Cloudbreeze having recently stepped down, it was Lightningstar’s job to perform apprentice ceremonies until he begrudgingly chose a new deputy, seeing as though the young cats seemed eager as ever and he didn't want to keep them from getting to their apprentice training. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather bellow High Rock for a clan meeting!" the large, fluffy leader called from the top of his usual spot upon the rock.

Wide eyes sparkling in the light of the setting sun, Galekit watched as Lightningstar jumped onto the highrock. Earlier in the day he had been told that he was old enough to become an apprentice, so this had to be his ceremony, right? Sure, he was excited, but he was also afraid of what lay ahead. He wanted to stay in the nursery with his denmates and his mother, but he also wanted to to explore the territories, to see what was beyond the boundaries of the camp. Hesitantly, he padded toward the crowd and chose a spot where he was quite hidden by taller cats, trying to not be seen, just in case it wasn't actually his ceremony.

Looking down as the apprentice joined the growing crowd of cats, Lightningstar continued. Galekit, please step forward. You have reached the age of six moons and it is time you become an apprentice. Galekit, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Galepaw. I will be your mentor," he finished with a nod before hopping off of the rock and making his way over to his kit and silently touching noses with him.

Excitement prickled through his pelt as his name was called. Following his father's orders, he walked forward, as tall as some of the apprenticed who stood in the crowd. Looking up, his expression showed his excitement as he awaited to find out who his mentor would be. His eyes widened when it was announced that his father, Lightningstar, would be his mentor. A smile formed on his maw as he touched noses with him, tail twitching excitedly.
