Palekit's Apprentice Ceremony

It was time for one of her siblings to join the ranks of warriors, and Cloudbreeze was definitely ready. Leaping swiftly to her place, her loud voice rang across the camp.

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the High Rock for a clan meeting!"

Palekit had been led out by her adoptive mother, Softtongue, after being forced to be groomed by her mother. Her much younger siblings stayed in the entrance of the nursery.

Palekit had pranced out, looking very proud of herself. Despite not been born here, she was excited. Her fur fluffed out as she approached, her eyes glittering like sunlight on a lake.

Seeing the kit in question, Cloudbreeze flicked her tail to silence the eager clan. "Palekit, you have reached the age of six moons and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day forth, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Palepaw. Flowtail will be your mentor."

Flowtail started from where he sat with the rest of the clan. 'Me?' he looked up at Cloudbreeze, his eyes questioning and wondering if she really meant to say his name. His doubt mixed with his excitement at the thought of training his first apprentice and his chest swelled with pride as he looked at Palepaw, unable to hide a smile as he padded forward to meet her. The scar on his shoulder had almost completely healed, the skin puckered and pink and he didn't move as stiffly as he used to. The old fox bite still looked gruesome, but as his fur grew back to cover it it would look less dramatic. "I promise to do my best to teach you all I know," He mewed softly as he touched his nose to hers, his blue eyes warm and welcoming.
