Brindlekit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to capture their own prey gather underneath Highrock for a clan meeting!" Sorrelwing yowled.

Gaze alight with a scintillating flare, the she-cat pranced forth with a exuberant bounce in her strides. A delicate zephr carressed her untamed fur, the ravishing embrace of newly-awakened sunlight soaking into her speckled pelt. In a transient moment, Brindlekit allowed herself to relish the rays of warmth, her eyes fluttering as they drifted to the cloud-streaked sky. A broad beam graced her maw as she tore her gaze away, shifting her focus to Sorrelwing with utmost delight. For once, her throat hadn't been tickled by the lingering presence of whitecough. Ever grateful to Mistedsong for having taken such good care of her, she could finally roam beyond the safety of the medicine den... and soon, beyond the safety of camp. Her much-awaited ceremony had been imminent for days, and undoubtedly, it had finally arrived. It wouldn't be long until she could catch up to her siblings!

"Brindlekit, since you have reached the age of six moons, it is time you have become apprenticed. From now until your receive your warrior name, you will be known as Brindlepaw. Your mentor will be Lionflame. May they teach you everything that they know."

Mistedsong watched the ceremony from his usual spot just away from the High Ledge with pride. He had grown quite close to Brindlekit in her lengthy stay in his den, and it filled him with a considerable amount of joy that the nearly grown kit was finally going to begin her warrior training. He stood when she was assigned a mentor, bushy tail flowing behind him, and cheered brightly for the last of Breezebranch's kits. "Brindlepaw! Brindlepaw!"

A purr had rippled through him at the summons, finally his sister was being apprenticed! Her kithood had been extended by a length bout of whitecough, but by his standards that was alright, because he knew she would grow into a great warrior in her own time. As she bounded into the centre, smiling the biggest smile Lionflame had ever seen, pride tingled in his paws and elicited a smile from him too. As Sorrelwing sped through the ceremony, he felt a pang of shock that he was to be her mentor, but it was quickly replaced by waves of excitement and elation. Padding over to her, he pressed his nose against hers like he had done with Breezebranch all those moons ago, before tilting his head back and chanting her new name alongside Mistedsong. "Brindlepaw! Brindlepaw!"

"Brindlepaw! Brindlepaw!"

Breezebranch cheered with her entire heart as the last of her kits was made into an apprentice. Her mentor? Why, it was her own son and former apprentice, Lionflame! Heart swelling with joy, she nuzzled both Lionflame and Brindlepaw with the utmost affection.
