A rainy day (Open)

Rainkit was hiding inside a bush as clan members walked by. He didn’t trust others and was really insecure so when he was around others he always felt that he wasn’t what they wanted. Rainkit hadn’t made any friends because of this and even his parents make him scared. He watched as many cats walked by and wished he was brave enough to go out and make a friend.

"Why are you all alone, sweetpea?" a soft voice mewed, filled with concern and tender care. While no longer a nursery queen, the molly was a mother of eight, and well known to love any type of kit. Seriously, she wouldn't even think twice about nuzzling a ShadowClan kit. So, of course, when she caught sight of a little kitten in a hiding in a bush, her queen instincts and the need to protect this kit surged to the max.

Rainkit cowered in fear when she heard a voice close to him. He stuck his head out of the bush to see the que-warrior everyone talked about. She was the mother to most of skyclan and became famous in the nursery. Even though he knew he wouldn’t be able to go near her or talk to her he gave a tiny smile so she knew he was alright. At times like this he wondered if he would ever be brave enough to be around others let alone speak to them.

The kit gave her a tiny smile and it was then that she remembered this was Cloudwing's kit. "Now, Rainkit, a bush is no place for a handsome tom like yourself. Out, shoo, darling, come along." She tut-tutted softly, yet sternly, moving a soft, white paw in the bush to pull the little tom from under the bush. "There, now isn't that much better? Well, just look at you! With all those twigs, you could be a bush yourself! Now come along, let's get you all fixed up. We can't have you walking around looking like a tree, what would your mother think of that!" She mewed, pulling him closer with a gentle paw as she cleared bits of twigs and leaves from his tabby pelt.

Once a mother, always a mother.

Even though Rainkit was terrified he felt safe around the older cat and he didn’t know why. As she took the twigs out of his fur the scared fluff went down as he got used to the she-cat around him. He knew it would take a long while for him to talk to her but at least he was improving.

"There," She mewed, finishing up on getting the twigs and leaves from his pelt. "Now isn't that so much better? Cloudwing would believe so, I know." Breezebranch said, matter-of-factly. "Now, darling, what ever were you doing in that bush? I do believe I've heard Grayclaw say that a bush is no place for a kit." She mewed, a bit off teasing in her honey-soft mew.

Rainkit was too scared to speak so he just made the cower in fear motion then pointed at the bush with his tail. He knew it was an improvement by even being near her but to speak to her would take a while of practice and trust.

Breezebranch nodded in understanding. "Ah, I see. Well, there is absolutely nothing to fea-" She paused as a leaf fell on her head, and with a playful chuckle, she flopped to the ground, in a playful imitation of fear. "Ahhh! Rainkit, help, I've been attacked!"

Rainkit watched as a leaf fell on her face and got more terrified. She was yelling for help but he didn’t know what to do so he quickly swatted the evil leaf off before cowering in fear.
