Frozen Storm (OPEN FOR RC/SKC)

Silverstar padded along the snow, staring off into the trees. The red warm glow of sunrise peaked through the pine forest. He had been assigned to lead the border patrol down their border with RiverClan, which felt a bit strange to be honest. Usually just warriors and apprentices go on patrols, and then report their findings to the leader. Given the circumstances though, it was reasonable enough. Actually, it felt nice to get out of camp and walk along the forest. To take in the pine bristles and glistening white snow that laid on top of them. His eyes went to a stream of ice that cut through the pine trees and bordered SkyClan and RiverClan. "Here's the Lightning Creek." he spoke.

He approached one of the pine trees near the creek and brushed up against it. The layer of ice on the creek shined in the new dawn's sunlight. As he started to mark another nearby tree, the smell of fish and water drifted into his nose. Were there RiverClan cats nearby, or was it just from the stream? He just blinked the question away, before he looked around to see what else needed to be marked.

Breezebranch padded after her leader. Breezebranch had never minded the cold weather, she actually thought the snow was rather pretty. "I love it out here, don't you, Silverstar? The forest is just... beautiful.." She mewed, looking into the Clan leader's amber eyes. She loved it here in SkyClan; she couldn't dream of being anywhere else. The scent of fish hit her nose and she scowled. While the water never bugged her, the taste of fish was disgusting.

Padding over to a bush along the scent-line border, she brushed up against the bush, brushing her cheek against it and leaving her scent marks. "I wonder how the other Clans are faring." The tortoiseshell tabby wondered aloud, gazing over at Silverstar briefly before walking towards a tree to mark.

Silverstar blinked towards his clanmate. "Yeah, it feels nice to get out of camp once in a while," he replied. The glistening snow made it look like the stars were dragged down into the forest. The absence of noisy birds made the forest much more quiet and peaceful. Though the cold was less desirable, he didn't mind it that much.

He looked over to the other side of the stream and stared off into RiverClan territory. Hearing Breezebranch's question, it made him wonder what they were doing. "I reckon their situation isn't as different as ours," he spoke. He went over to a shrub and brushed up against it. "Hopefully they're at least well," he added a bit more quietly. A leader is loyal to their clan, but they still care about every cat regardless of their blood. That's what Skystar would say anyways.

Breezebranch smiled to the tom. "Yes, no Clan should suffer." She murmured, looking at him. Each time she saw him, she thought of her former leader, Skystar. They were so alike. As if reading his mind, she replied, "I'm sure Skystar would say the same."

Brushing up against a shrub, she purred, thinking of her former leader and clanmates, lost in the battle against the dark forest. "She's proud of you, ya know? You're a great leader, Silverstar." Pausing, she looked directly into his eyes and grinned. SkyClan was such a wonderful Clan.

Silverstar paused after brushing on another bush, hearing his clanmate talk about Skystar. He started to feel a lump form in his throat and tiny but mostly unnoticeable tears in his eyes. He quickly blinked them away before Breezebranch turned to look at him. "Yeah..." he replied.

He stared back into her green eyes, saying no words. He just stared at her for a moment before he walked passed her in order to keep marking the border.
