It's just a flesh wound {OPEN}

Pain burned up and down Flowtail's leg as he limped back into camp, scarlet paw prints in the snow showing the path he took to get to the camp entrance. His eyes were clouded over but his jaw was set in determination as he padded to the fresh kill pile and deposited his meager catches. They didn't do much to improve the size of the pile, but at least it was something. Someone would at least get a mouthful or two, something to keep the edge off their hunger hopefully. He felt his own belly rumble and his mouth watered at the sight was a larger vole in the pile, but the young warrior turned away, heading to a shadowed corner so he could clean his wound. As he settled down his head felt light and his sight hazy, but he figured it was just the adrenaline from the fight leaving his body and making him feel drained. He looked at his shoulder where bite marks dug into claw marks, his red pelt looking almost black from the blood and clumped together in a mess. He gingerly began to clean his wound, hissing between his teeth as fresh sparks of pain ricochet through his body with every swipe of his tongue. The wound was still bleeding, though not as profusely as it had been before.

Flashkit had been playing with a moss ball near the entrance to the nursery when she saw Flowtail making his way back into camp. The kit kicked the ball away with her hind legs and scrambled to her paws. They were still a bit too big for her, and she stumbled over them a bit as she hurried over to where the warrior had settled himself, her eyes big and round.

"Oh no! You're hurt. What happened?" The kit squeaked, her whiskers twitching as she stretched her nose forward to sniff at the wound. Flashkit didn't seem to have a grasp on the concept of personal space yet.

Cinderkit peered from the nursery at Flashkit's worried call. "Huh?" He looked over and flinched at the wound. "Ah! Someone hurt Flowtail!" His fluffy tail almost immediately tucked under his belly and his fur puffed up even more. "F-Flashkit what if it hurts you if you sniff it?" He mewed, voice small and squeaky as ever. His big body crouched down very low to the ground.

A pale yellow tom was laying at the edge of the den, enjoying not having nothing to do at the moment. His peace was broken by a pair of kits pestering Flowtail. Wait, what was wrong with Flowtail? Concerned, the tomcat stood and walked over, giving the kits a firm look. Leave him be. He doesn't need you two bothering him. Why don't you go find the medicine cat," he said before turning his attention on Flowtail directly. "Are you alright? You look like you lost a fight with a monster. What happened?" Sandbreeze asked the younger tom. If there was a potential danger on clan territory, they needed to know.

Roseeye followed hastily behind Flowtail, two scrawny mice dangling from her fangs. As she pushed through into the camp, she dropped them onto the dirt before collapsing a bit near Flowtail, blood oozing out of her chest. She placed her paws underneath her and pushed her body up, only managing to stand up about a mouse-length.

"We were hunting... A starving fox came after our kills... We managed to drive it off, but-" her sentence was cut off by a shot of pain in her chest. She hissed through gritted teeth before collapsing again. Her paw pressed over the nasty scratch that ran in between her front legs.

Flashkit gasped, her fur beginning to bristle at Roseeye's words. She looked over her shoulder towards the entrance to camp, as though expecting to see a large ginger presence at any moment.

"A fox?! Oh no! Is it gonna come here?" She looked between all three of the older cats, wincing as she noticed that Roseeye, too, was injured. Finally processing the words from Sandbreeze, the fluffy kit raced over to the medicine cat den, calling out, "Logleap! Help! Fox attack!"

Flowtail watched as cats gathered around him, especially the kits as he blinked down at them in surprise. Flashkit didn't flinch away from the gore of his wound. Amusement pricked in his chest at Cinderkit's words, and he opened his mouth to let the young one know it didn't hurt for someone to sniff it, but would probably hurt if the kit touched him. Before he could say anything, Sandbreeze approached and the other tom's expression filled with shock and concern. Roseeye's presence appeared at his side and she filled their Clanmate in. Everyone was looking at him with worry and concern and he scoffed.

"It's a mere flesh wound you guys," He mewed, waving them off as he swayed a little, his head feeling light and the world began to tilt. "It's not like I'm dying, I'll heal up and just be a little sore in the mean time. It looks worse than what it really is." Even as he spoke his words came out slower and he wasn't enunciating his words very well and they melded together. He seem to realize what was happening and he turned to look at Roseeye, alarm filling his blue eyes as his body temperature plummeted, his breathing rate picked up as his pupils dilated. The adrenaline had finally fully left his system and his body was beginning to go into shock from the trauma caused by the fox attack.

Feverfew... where had he placed that Feverfew? The small white flowers had been right there - right before his eyes - but after he had released a pent-up sneeze, the herb had mysteriously disappeared. He was fairly certain he had not eaten it, just as certain that no other cat had entered the den since he had woken up. The disappearance had to be at the paws of true evil, then. It was the only viable option. Which evil, however, would prove to be a challenge to discern -

"Logleap! Help! Fox attack!" a shrill voice ripped the medicine cat from his investigations of the corners of his dens. All his newly organized herbs fluttered in mad directions as he pounced atop the green pile in his own surprise. He was not eased by the sight of Flashkit at the entrance of the den. Her words continued to ring in his ears. Fox attack. That meant blood, which always came from bites and scratches. Foxes had a horrible tendency to carry disease.. Logleap's wide eyes scanned the den. His mind kept circling back to "fox attack".

"Cobwebs. Cobwebs and, um, goldenrod. Foxes.. yes, horsetail." the tom, despite the mess of herbs scattered into different crevices, and in some cases, spread about the floor, was able to locate the two herbs. "Flashkit.. grab the cobwebs there in the corner. Wrap them.. awouned -" his words became muffled and cut off as he rushed to nab the few scarce leaves off of ground.

Logleap could smell the tang of blood as he entered the camp from his den. The scent of the herbs drowned out the worst of it, easing the threat of his trembling legs. "F-flowtail. Ahem. Roseeye." the herbs were at his paws now as he exaimened the two warriors. "Sand- uhm - breeze, and Cinderthing, Help Flashkit with cobwebs. Put them on the blood source." Logleap found it far easier to give commands without regard to how or what he sounded like (or truly what he was saying) Simple but efficient.

"Flowtail, Roseeye, the pain starts where?" his sentences became less comprehensible as he searched his own mind for courses of action, but first he had to keep the two warriors awake. Keep them talking.

Everything was happening so fast for the little kit.

Cinderkit backed away slowly from the action. ~Logleap knows what he's doing, Logleap knows what he's doing.~ He felt shaky. ~I'm in the way, what if I'm in the way?~ As Logleap rushed around Cinderkit felt an urge to run away. ~Angry. Angry. Angry.~ He just wanted to say stop but he didn't want to seem rude. ~Stay not in the way. Stay not in the way.~ He felt frozen all over, his eyes full with what seemed to be the beginning of tears, but he wasn't crying, not yet.

Until he was.
~Not brave. In the way. Angry. Angry. Angry.~
His thoughts stopped for a second, his fur now damped with tears of the stressed kit.
~Logleap has Flashkit to help him, it's gonna be okay.~ He told himself.

But inside it seemed like a really big lie. Cinderkit didn't like lying- especially to himself. ~Such a cry baby.~ He told himself, it was true but it made the tears come even faster- why was he even crying? Cinderkit wasn't hurt like Flowtail and Flowtail wasn't crying... Was he? Now that Cinderkit took a closer look, Flowtail was panicking to Roseeye about something. ~Panic. Panic. Panic. Not angry, panic!~

Roseeye stared up towards the medicine cat as she started to pant. She touched the top of the wound, just below her throat. As she tried to speak, her voice sounded hoarse from the pressure on her neck. "Right here's the worst one..." she coughed. She then put her paw down as she tried to keep speaking. "...and it bit me on the tail and flank..."

She looked towards the other cats around them. Then she looked back at Flowtail as he wore an alarmed expression. In any other situation, she would have snapped that she didn't need to be watched like a kit. But, she was distracted by the stinging wounds in her pelt.

Sandbreeze listened as Roseeye explained what had happened to them. A fox, huh? The sandy colored room shook his head in disbelief. "You're telling me that you fought off a fox to keep your kills? Are you both idiots? Yes, foxes should be dealth with, but you two could have been killed
No prey is worth losing your life over. Honestly, it's like you're apprentices again," he scolded lightly. The pair of cats were still fairly young and reckless, but hopefully, this encounter would teach them a valuable lesson, even if it meant leaving scars behind.

His attention turned as Logleap arrived, carrying several herbs in his jaws. He glanced down at Cinderkit. The poor thing's eyes were so wide, he seemed to be on the verge of panic. Laying a long furred tail over the kit, Sandbreeze smiled. "It's alright, Cinderkit. They'll probably be off of duties for a couple days while they heal, but no one is dying. Why don't you help me make sure the nursery is secured? Don't want that nasty fox hurt your mother and siblings, right?" he said as he stood. He was sure the nursery was fine, but Cinderkit clearly needed to get away from all the chaos and having a seemingly important job to do might help the little kit top calm down.

Roseeye glared towards Sandbreeze. "Shut it, Mom... Save the lecture until we aren't bleeding..." she snarled as that irritating feeling in her returned. Negative thoughts flying around inside her mind like bees in her head. She was fighting for her and Flowtail. The two mice and scrawny squirrel they brought back weren't the priority. Another pulse of pain came from her chest, keeping her from snapping towards Sandbreeze further.

Instead, she just looked towards the herbs and closed her eyes as she waited for the wound to be treated. The feeling of a bad claw wound in her chest just reminded her of that battle with the Dark Forest, like a rat gnawing at the back of her head.

Logleap was a pretty peculiar cat, Flashkit had come to realize. Had the situation not been as serious as it was (she kept seeing Flowtail's wound, and each time the mental image of it made her a bit more queasy), she would have probably giggled at the chaos that was the medicine cat attempting to get things together. As it were, she darted for the cobwebs, wrapping a thick layer around her paws. She figured they'd need a lot, with as much blood as there was. The kit hurried after Logleap, joining the others once more.

She wasn't sure he necessarily meant her, but she was in this now. She would help. Separating some cobwebs, she pressed them with a paw against Flowtail's wound, which quickly soaked the webs, turning them a dark red. Although she attempted to press them firmly, she was a bit small to really reach the warrior's shoulder without completely climbing atop him, which she didn't want to do in case she hurt him worse, so hopefully one of the other cats nearby would give her a paw.

"Like this? Can someone help me cover it all?" She squeaked, fear showing through in her voice.

Flowtail weakly motioned to his shoulder for Logleap, his blue eyes becoming dull and glazed over with pain as he tried to stay sitting upright. As Sandbreeze spoke he glanced at the other tom, gaze hazey. "Every piece of prey matters in hard seasons like this," he said weakly, flicking an ear as he glanced at Roseeye, then the kits. "I'd fight anything that would cause ThunderClan any harm. I didn't fight just to protect a few scraps of prey, I fought to get the fox off our territory. To protect you, Roseeye, the kits. What would have happened if it had gotten into the camp?" The thought made him shudder and he shook his head weakly, watching Logleap work on their wounds. He cared too much for his Clan to let anything happen to them, but it had led him into a reckless battle. He should have found Roseeye first and coordinated with her. He glanced at the she-cat and grief stabbed him in the heart as he saw her wounds. If he had been smarter, thought quicker, and had been better they probably wouldn't be in the positions they were in now.

A pressure on his wound made him flinch and he looked down, seeing Flashkit struggle to press cobwebs into his wound. He was so much taller than the young she-kit that even sitting down she was stretching to reach his shoulder. With a grunt, the large red tom carefully lowered himself down onto his belly, making it easier for the young she-cat. "Don't be afraid to press as hard as you can," He mewed softly, looking at Flashkit. "Pressure stops the bleeding. The more pressure you apply, the better."

Cinderkit looked up at Sandbreeze before smiling. "Ye-yeah.. Let's protect the kits..." He mewed, his tears stopped but his voice was still affected.

It was never a just few small scratches when it came to the warriors of Thunderclan. Their motto, from Logleap's perspective, always seemed to be "go big or don't go"; and thus those he treated were never suffering from basic torn claws or a simple thorn. It was always huge gashes and bites.. and stars! On her throat? Logleap's green gaze shifted to the deep puncture on Roseeye's neck. His supplies seemed woefully meager in the light of such grand injuries.

He hurriedly pushed a stray wad of cobwebs against the gash, trying his hardest not to choke the poor warrior, all the while struggling to chew the few leaves of goldenrod and horsetail he had gathered. Under normal conditions, he may have tried to measure out the herbs to divide them evenly, but under the stress of the current situation, it was a miracle Logleap didn't just spit onto those he was treating. Somehow, the poultice he had created found its way onto a cobweb.

"The bleeding is slowing down.. need .. pressure continue." the medicine cat announced. "Um, Flowtail is right. Pressure.. good." Logleap lifted the cobweb briefly. "Now to clean the injuries.. with the tongue." the tom's tail tip twitched as he spoke. He rapidly attempted to clean Roseeye's injury, the wound still trickling as he reached to place the cobwebs laced with poultice onto her wound. He risked a glance at Flashkit and Flowtail to see how well the male warrior was managing.
